If you happen to catch someone posting in Korean in this group, please let the mods know. I have no issue with people posting in their own first languages, but I have noticed a pattern in these comments and have good reason to believe it is spam. I don't as a routine prowl around the threads, so I'm hoping if this happens people here will help us out.

Yeah thanks have been seeing what looked like Chinese characters on loads of topics and was wondering if it was a spammer.

I enjoyed reading the blog post I Dorset, Detective Book and gave me some ideas for my next two novels.

I had a message from somebody calling herself/himself "Weyatebe" with what looks Korean, but can't really say. I thought you wanted us to let you know?

Weyatebe’s been very active over the past few weeks. Not happy with GR’s policy of not removing accounts.

I'm afraid I received another "Korean" message from Jebexoviw. Another spammer I guess? It's a pain.

for those of you who saw the spam posts by "Ryder," he/she is gone now, deleted from the group and posts that I saw flagged.

Yes, thank you! Flag away. I have no idea how many times that person posted in this group, so if you see them, flag them. I also contacted support so hopefully he/she will be nothing but past history shortly.

When I came here this morning, I had 23 or 24 notifications waiting for me. I think all but 1 or 2 were for this 'Ryder' clown.

It might be fun to have a "Spammer Hall of Fame" topic. We could keep a running post of titles and authors who have shamelessly spammed their book in flagrant disregard of group rules.

Yes, well. They already make it quite difficult to flag an account vs a comment, so thank goodness you are resolute.

The spammer is getting smarter. When there's a profile photo, you can flag an entire account. He/she hasn't used one since I flagged the last spammer with a profile photo, so I just delete his/her MCT group membership.

That’s pretty cool. I wish we could have something like on Facebook where you could either block someone or ignore them which could then be flagged up as a spammer.... then again that could get out of hand lol

I was on a GR group once where all the spam messages were put in one folder, so we could mock them easily.

Seriously! There are so many authors on Goodreads who behave themselves and are able to follow the rules that I'd like to see some consequences for the bad apples.
