Every one is welcome to join, let me know when you want to start and we will figure out a time that works for every one.

11811 (Eleven) (11811) | 267 comments I just read the first 2% to check it out. I'm excited to start anytime.

RachelvlehcaR (charminggirl) | 299 comments I might start it tonight. Just a little of it.

Kaisersoze I've been looking forward to checking this out as well, so will join in too.

Kate | 1106 comments Mod
I'll try and start this at the weekend.

Justin (justineaton) | 3492 comments Mod
I will start a little of it today also then. I will take it slow but plan on having enough read to discuss next week.

11811 (Eleven) (11811) | 267 comments How far are we?

Justin (justineaton) | 3492 comments Mod
I am almost to 25% I will get there tomorrow and then be ready to discuss that much.

RachelvlehcaR (charminggirl) | 299 comments Okay, I will be at the 25% mark tomorrow night. When I get off work I will join in on the discussion.

11811 (Eleven) (11811) | 267 comments First 25% was fun but not quite as much as the first book. Possibly because all my favorite characters died over the course of book one.

message 11: by RachelvlehcaR (last edited Nov 01, 2014 07:28PM) (new) - rated it 3 stars

RachelvlehcaR (charminggirl) | 299 comments I agree with you Eleven. (view spoiler) The first book was quite fast paced.

11811 (Eleven) (11811) | 267 comments RachelvlehcaR wrote: "I agree with you Eleven. However the kick to the groin was good. I couldn't imagine maggots in the penis. Nasty. Yuck! The first book was quite fast paced."

The maggot thing was superbly disgusting.

Kaisersoze This seems in keeping with the tone of the first one, though my meory is hazy as I read it a couple of years ago. Having read a heap of self-published stuff in that time, I also have a whole new appreciation for how effortlessly Bryan Smith's prose rolls off the page.

RachelvlehcaR (charminggirl) | 299 comments I love the speed of the book and how go go go it is. I'm not wanting to go too quickly so I'm just taking it slow until someone says there will be to the next spot of the book.

I'm still grossed out about the maggot thing. If someone videoed my reaction to that, I'm sure it was some kind of frowny face. :/

RachelvlehcaR (charminggirl) | 299 comments I'm at the 50% mark.

message 16: by Addy (new) - rated it 3 stars

Addy | 1944 comments I'm joining this but i'll be way behind you guys:( Ill try to catch up!

RachelvlehcaR (charminggirl) | 299 comments Addy most everyone is at the 25% mark. I think I'm the only one at the 50% mark. I'm just picking it up when I see others start to read it more. :) I'm leaving it for a while until everyone catches up.

message 18: by Addy (new) - rated it 3 stars

Addy | 1944 comments Cool! I'll see what I can do tonight.

message 19: by Addy (new) - rated it 3 stars

Addy | 1944 comments I love how this is starting out!

RachelvlehcaR (charminggirl) | 299 comments I know! It's go go go but comparing it with the first book I'd say I liked how the first one started. Still this one follows the characters well and you see how messed up they are from their first experience from the first book (mainly Jessica).

message 21: by Kate (last edited Nov 01, 2014 08:03PM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Kate | 1106 comments Mod
I'm only at 10%, Addy, so I'm not very far on myself. (view spoiler)

RachelvlehcaR (charminggirl) | 299 comments I know Kate. That was horrible.

It was, but I still smiled that he got his comeuppance. :)

RachelvlehcaR (charminggirl) | 299 comments Agreed.

Kaisersoze I'm really enjoying this one. May be not quite as much as the first, but it's a worthy sequel.

I'm at 37% and making myself stop for the time being. It's a pretty good read so far.

I'm almost to 25% got moved to a new team and already told I'm getting bumped to another team next week. That will make a full month of being on a new team every week and training on jobs I will probably never do again. It's great so far but just not the same without some of my favorite characters that died in the first book. I'm starting to really like some of the new characters though hopefully they turn out to be as good as the ones who died in the first book.

message 28: by Kate (new) - rated it 4 stars

Kate | 1106 comments Mod
I'm at 61%. I'm enjoying it but so far none of the characters are very sympathetic, I can't really root for any of them. (view spoiler)

message 29: by Addy (new) - rated it 3 stars

Addy | 1944 comments I'm sure everyone is ahead of me here when I say maggoty, diseased mechanic guy. Nasty!

Justin (justineaton) | 3492 comments Mod
I think your beating me addy, I'm still just under 25% because of job training. I have a 3 day weekend coming up though.

message 31: by Addy (new) - rated it 3 stars

Addy | 1944 comments Nah I'm only 16%. What I don't get is why she'd wanna go back to Hopkins bend??

11811 (Eleven) (11811) | 267 comments Addy wrote: "Nah I'm only 16%. What I don't get is why she'd wanna go back to Hopkins bend??"

How could you not want to go back to Hopkins Bend?

LOL. Goodness! A place that warped her so much. It really did a number on her too.

I'm at 50% Hopkins Bend really did a number on her (view spoiler)

Kaisersoze I have to agree with Kate. It's hard to find a redeeming character in here - at least one who has a POV that lasts for more than a chapter. I'm interested to see whether the main characters get their due, or get away with it, laughing all the way.

11811 (Eleven) (11811) | 267 comments Addy wrote: "I'm sure everyone is ahead of me here when I say maggoty, diseased mechanic guy. Nasty!"

It's a common medical problem. In Hopkins Bend.

RachelvlehcaR (charminggirl) | 299 comments I don't want to get too far ahead of everyone so I'll just wait until everyone catches up. :)

message 37: by Addy (new) - rated it 3 stars

Addy | 1944 comments It certainly is eleven:) I wonder if there's gonna be another sick strip club. Guess I'll find out. I'm still only about 20% in.

11811 (Eleven) (11811) | 267 comments In about 40% and also looking for my favorite sin den.

message 39: by Kate (new) - rated it 4 stars

Kate | 1106 comments Mod
How's everyone going with this?

Justin (justineaton) | 3492 comments Mod
44%

message 41: by Addy (new) - rated it 3 stars

Addy | 1944 comments I'm 30%. I'm gonna keep trucking tonight and see how far I get.

On another note;) Lexus....lol.

Kaisersoze I'm done. I liked it, but damn, I feel dirty for doing so.

It shouldn't be fun reading this sort of story, but it so is. :)

I know what you mean. I'm in the same boat. When I read the first one I was smiling. How sick is that? I was just pleased it was so in your face.

Justin (justineaton) | 3492 comments Mod
The first Edward Lee novel I read I thought to myself WTF, why would anyone like this? Then for some reason I read another one and after that one I thought to myself WTF, why do I like this?

Yes, that's exactly what goes through my head. I ask myself 'how can you enjoy this, you're sick'. LOL

Addy | 1944 comments It concerns me, well maybe not concerns but saddens me that every descent male character seems to get slaughtered. It's kinda like, "oh wow. I like this guy" and then bang he's outta the picture. Kinda like how I want billy and Jessica to like each other. I really don't want her to kill him, but I won't be surprised if she does.

Yeah but if you didn't like the characters then you wouldn't care if they died, you'd get bored, and you would bail out on our buddy read.

message 49: by Addy (new) - rated it 3 stars

Addy | 1944 comments Hmm...you got a point there. Boy, he's really good at making me care. That's good writing!

message 50: by Addy (new) - rated it 3 stars

Addy | 1944 comments I had a sudden realization at my distaste for Jessica sometimes. Wouldn't it be ironic if she joins the Hopkins bend bandwagon. I mean, it makes sense that what she endured could turn her over for a taste of the sadistic. Well, just a thought.
