This book has made every "Top Ten Comics" list for almost 20 years, and for good reason. It mixes fantastic themes with a dream-like (pun intended) story that creates a vast world beyond most comics of it's time. It centers around Dream, an ancient being, often referred to as "The Sandman", and his pursuit to obtain his stolen belongings back after being captured and kept in a glass tube for almost a century. This story is imaginative and is a perfect example of Neil Gaiman and Sam Keith's creativity in storytelling and world building.
As anyone who has ever read Gaiman's other books (such as American Gods, Anansi Boys, or Neverwhere to name a few) you understand that his mind and stories have a certain complexity to them that can often confuse us. I think it helps with these issues being in comic book form, where we can visualize the story as well.
