DYSTOPIAN1. An imaginary place or state in which the condition of life is extremely bad, as from deprivation, oppression, or terror.
--- so basically, the opposite of UTOPIA (perfect world)
(non-formal definition) It's kinda an imaginary place that usually in books has a government that isn't working/ the city is controlling the people etc. Like every single teen books nowadays! >:( ((divergent, hunger games, etc.))
To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of today's dystopias: 16 year old girl, who loves her family, and is 'special' and everyone knows about her and she's put into a situation and leads a rebellion, and meets a hot guy and they fall in love. >:@This isn't gonna be like that.
If you want an amazing dystopia, read 1984, people. It'll scare the living cr*p out of you.
