Chapter 1 (view spoiler)[ I love it when books start with action! That was a great beginning, I'm hooked already. I thought Rachel was just going to make a tiny appearance in the 3rd book, so it's cool that she's back. And Annabeth has a crush on Percy, which is cute, but better not ruin the series by taking too much attention away from the monsters and quests (hide spoiler)]

Chapter One
(view spoiler)[ It sent like these books always begin with Percy killing something at school or blowing up a school. I hate that Annabeth is already acting jealous of Rachel. I just feel like she should be above something so petty, especially when she doesn't know all the facts. I really hope this doesn't lead to a love triangle. (hide spoiler)]

chapter two
(view spoiler)[ I love this book and here's why. In one day alone, Percy has killed two Greek vampire cheerleader chicks, petted a dragon, witnessed goats presiding in satyr court, had lunch with a Cyclops, seen a demigod talk to a ghost, and still had time for sword practice. I'm pretty sure this is the only series where that an happen.
I feel so bad for Grover. He's trying so hard and I'm glad that he has something of his own. Lightning Thief sort of set him up to be Percy's sidekick but I'm glad he's become more than that.
So glad Tyson is back. I missed him. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 2-5 (view spoiler)[ Yay, Annabeth gets to lead a quest! It's going to be so dangerous, but I'm happy for her for finally getting one. And Tyson is back!!! Oh, I missed him, he's so sweet. I'm worried Grover's search for Pan isn't going to go as well as he thinks it will... And I don't trust the new camp guy. Quintis? He seems untrustworthy, I definitely wouldn't be using that whistle if I were Percy. But if I left it behind, I'd make sure I left it in a cabin. I'm not sure why, I've just got a feeling (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 5-8 (view spoiler)[ I like the maze, it's interesting. Only one monster so far, I expected a lot more. I guess she was especially terrifying, and we haven't gone far... Oh, and there was the guy with two faces. For a daughter of Athena,Annabeth let herself become confused pretty easily. Normally Percy can snap her out of things like that. I didn't like Hera all that much, she was just confusing and helpful. She better do a lot more later on (hide spoiler)]

I think Annabeth has been all over the place since she first appeared in the book. First the jealousy thing with Percy and now her confusion. She's just not herself.

Yeah, that's true... I wonder what the rest of that prophecy says? Because it's obviously worrying her. Or if something else happened over the winter before she got to camp

Chapters 8-12. Okay, why is ice in italics all the time? Is that just my copy being weird, or is there some clue I'm missing out on? (view spoiler)[ And ohmyZeus Annabeth kissed Percy!!! I think I'm really happy about that, but I really don't want this book to be ruined by romance... Hopefully they just get together, there's no massive plot change to just focus on them. I know, wishful thinking... I missed Nico, I'm glad he's back. It's sweet how desperate he is to get Bianca back, but also heartbreaking. Oh, and I hope Grover finds Pan. He seems to be so close! (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 12-14 (view spoiler)[ I love Rachel, she's so cool! I like how her and Annabeth snipe at each other, it's fun to watch. I hope Percy's plan about her works. I'm quite concerned that it won't. Oh, and I like Calypso. I feel so sorry for her, that's an awful punishment. But she's holding up well, so I admire her (hide spoiler)]

How far through are you with this? I'm 5 chapters from the end I think.
Chapters 14-16 (view spoiler)[ I really don't like the maze inventor. He's just not nice. He's selfish, and that bothers me. Take a side, or don't get involved. But don't give Luke the string then help Percy. That's just not fair. I'm glad we got to see Luke again, being all perfect and great :) I really love him, even though he's evil. Well, probably BECAUSE he's evil (hide spoiler)]

It's amazing how brave kids can be when they have to be. It reminded me of the Battle of Hogwarts a bit. What happened to Luke was awful. He must've let it happen, which I guess made him brave in his own way, but it upset me. I love him, okay! And poor, unwanted Nico. He's right, no one loves him. Well, I do, but that's not much help... Oh, and yay for Grover! He found Pan! Yes, Pan then 'died', but I'm still happy he did it (hide spoiler)]

In answer to your spoilers: (view spoiler)[ I was the same about Daedalus. He seemed like he could be cool, but then he lost it pretty fast. Annabeth is annoying me a lot in this book, usually I love her. She needs to stop thinking she's so great, and they could've just passed. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ There were so many good and bad things about this book. I have to say the very best part, for me, was that in the end Daedalus and Briares came through for the camp. I was especially glad that Tyson didn't lose faith in his hero. For some reason, I really want him to get a happy ending especially. Probably because his life started out sucking so much, but he never lets anything get him down.
I hated that Pan died, more for Grover than anything else. He worked so hard to find him, then he just died. I feel like he was honored in a big way by Pan, though, and that sort of makes up for it, even if the council doesn't believe him.
One thing that I absolutely hated about this book was Annabeth pretty much the entire way through. She was horribly petty most the time and lacked any of her usual intellect. And for what? A crush. Stupid.
Part of me is glad that Luke is gone. I think his character sort of played itself out. With Kronus back, we have a new villain and there's no way that Luke could measure up. (hide spoiler)]
