Annabelle walked uncertainly into the old shop. Then she smiled when she turned around to see her dad standing outside waving through the glass.

"Welcome to Ollivander's,"greeted a dark-skinned witch with a wild, greying afro. "What is your name sweetheart?" She always thought it was cute, the children who wanted to come in and get their wands on their own, and equally the parents would supportively wait outside, anxiously supporting their son or daughter from a distance.
"My name is Annabelle" Annabelle said uncertainly as she observed the women in front of her.

"It is a pleasure to meet you Annabelle," the witch replied, her words sincere. "My name is Angela." She paused for a moment to take in the girl's presence. "Do you have any siblings at Hogwarts or are you the first to go?"
"I'm an only child," said, "It's just me and dad," Annabelle replied, looking back out her window towards her dad. Her dad smiled back through the window.
"I've always wondered what it would be like," Angela mused aloud. "I had two older siblings myself." Her fingers traced the shelves, searching for a particular box she had in mind. There it was, a brown box spotted here and there by the effects of water. The box was old, much like the wand it contained inside."Why don't you give this one a try?" the wandmaker said as she turned around. Some fiddling, and she presented the now-lidless box to the young witch. Inside, sitting on a piece of old, slightly ratty, maroon-colored silk, was a knobby wand of a very plain brown color, marked with the grain from the original tree, the aforementioned just a slightly darker brown. "Let's see what it thinks of you."
Annabelle picked up the wand apprehensively, it didn't look like much at first, but the artist inside of her could tell that someone had put a lot of work into it. She gave it a little wave and all of the miscellaneous stuff littering the floor flew up and then settled back down in a different place. She smiled mischievously at the women in front of her and said, "I'll take this one."
