Anybody continuing this one?

Three chapters in and there are some new faces and rather large departures from where we left off in the last book...
It's set on;y a week later but (view spoiler)[ Morgen is Ascended and OCD to the nth after Bedeckt has killed him :0 (seriously? after all that "saving" stuff in Bk 1) and everything is quite arse over apex now...

Bedec seems to have (view spoiler)[ lost all his allies thru hapless wheeler-dealing... and when you think how much everyone; Wichtig, Stehlen, even Morgen (within a short while) cared abt him in Bk 1.
+ yep as discussed in prev thread) the Afterdeath seems to be a thin, cheap veil now thru which ppl are jezzt flitting as the need may be... when you think of the Azath/warrens in Malazan and how formidable (awe-striking? 😂) they are + how much it costs to use them... but I still have hopes that the Afterdeath will turn into something to be reckoned with... Immediately, I like Zukunft... she has such a mouth on her... if she, Stel and Wichtig ever meet, that'll be a scene I hope is written somewhere! I have a weird feeling abt her... Can't describe... Its like something waiting to be revealed... *pfffft* blows hair off face... I wemt back and tried to look for the lines that gave me this irritating vague hunch.

Morgen, poor kid, its prolly my orphan predispositions talking but I have this twisty feeling in my belly (haha 😂 I call it the #splintergut ) when I read scenes abt him (view spoiler)[ interacting with Nacht... he still kept his toy soldiers (secretly) in his pocket... aaaaaaawww, sometimes I think its partly for comfort, tho anyone in this world would viciously deny this!
He's still so unsure and needs parent/guidance, but ALSO wants to be a god, control it all and gets frust with himself...o Morgen!

Erbrechen had it too easy, Barry, for what he did to this child + everyone around him, really... but why do children suffer so much in fantasy worlds?
There's no more overused trope in all the genre AND STILL every reader, young, old, male, female gets suckered everytime... can't help... (hide spoiler)]

Failure's abit (view spoiler)[ whiny and quite unlike Konig...but I guess falling in status from kingmegavilliaingodmaker to trapped inside a mirror will do that to ya...I keep thinking what @Dragonschild would say to this series... chapter 3 twists around itself so much, it's kinda funny, sometimes I think the only one's each of these ppl are deluding are themselves... Afterdeath
(view spoiler)[Well, I agree it’s rather dull. I do wonder, though, if there are multiple Afterdeaths. I mean, you can still kill people in the Afterdeath, so where do those people go? And what if you don’t believe in the Geborene or the Warrior’s Credo like the tavern patrons? They don’t seem to be serving Stehlen. And they still need money. It’s like life only paler in color ... it’d suck if our own Afterdeath is like that. (hide spoiler)]

Oh, man poor guy. I mean obviously I’d like to see him receive some misfortunes (and it’s always funny whenever Stehken steals from him), but to be maimed by that crazy lady with self mutilation delusion ... that’s pretty sick (when she showed up with her torture instruments I was like female Glokta ...but damn she went straight to the point of cutting Wichtig ..). I actually pitied the guy. Not sure how he could keep his promise to Morgen now that he’s almost a cripple. I guess no fame and glory for him, and a bleak return to Afterdeath? (hide spoiler)]

Yeah, I kinda like her too. I dunno how Bedect has been able to resist her temptation so far, but it speaks to his morality and sanity I guess.

No idea if she’s letting Bedect running around without any purpose. I’m expecting a wild adventure before converging with Stehlen and Wichtig. I suppose they’ll join up eventually to help or kill Morgen/Nacht (hide spoiler)]

He’s becoming Hitler-like. I keep wondering if that’s how Hitler felt all the time, surrounded by people who admired and feared him at the same time. But, I guess Hitler had more confidence in his generals than Morgen seems to have. (hide spoiler)]

End of Ch 35

The story is getting more insane, and I’m loving it.

(view spoiler)[I don’t quite understand why her Reflection claims she needs to be taught what betrayal feels like. I thought she already understands what betrayal feels like as she has admitted she killed her sister, though accidentally. Or is this just a manifestation of her delusion? That she thinks she didn’t receive any punishment for her mistake? (hide spoiler)]

Stehlen
(view spoiler)[I didn’t expect to see a deeper self reflection from her. Reminded me of those serial killers who kept killing because they wanted to get caught and end their miseries. Such a tragic figure. (hide spoiler)]
