Stephen R. Lawhead discussion

Who has read any of the Bright Empires series? I have read the first four and The Fatal Tree arrived this week. So far I have quite enjoyed all of them.

Any thoughts?

One of my Goodreads friends (who's not in this group) and I have buddy-read all of the first four books so far, and plan to read the fifth one together in April. We've enjoyed the series, but agree that it's not Lawhead's best work.

Yeah, I saw that after I had already posted this thread. For some reason it didn't show up in the discussion thread when I first looked. Also agree it's not his best work, but still pretty interesting.
