ʟ ᴀ ᴜ ʀ ᴀ | 246 comments Adelaide walked into the ballroom confidently, as always. On the inside, though, she was disappointed. Extremely disappointed. She couldn't believed what had happened with Thomas. It was as if he hated her! They barely talked, she worked with him, and then he just left! Adelaide sighed walked over to one of the large windows on one side of the room, her Simple yet elegant and form-fitting gray dress floated around her ankles. ((http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/236...)) She stared out the window, daydreaming slightly, though she knew she shouldn't be. Especially at nineteen years old. Especially about Thomas. She was engaged, soon to be shipped off to some rotten prince, as if she weren't a person.

Scarlett stalked rather arrogantly into the ballroom. That maid whatever her unimportant name was had ticked her off enough to break a stupid equally as unimportant vase. And there was a vase or two in the ballroom. But her hopes diminished as she saw her all too stupid eldest sister there already. She may as well take her anger out on her and not the vase.

ʟ ᴀ ᴜ ʀ ᴀ | 246 comments Adelaide continued watching the gardens outside-of course the gardens were seen from these windows-and sighed again. She turned slightly when she noticed someone walk in and hoped it was someone she liked. Unfortunately, she was wrong and her day had gotten much worse already. It was Scarlett that had walked through the doors, her arrogant and entirely conceited younger sister.

"I didn't realize you wore such ugly dresses." Those were Scarlett's first words to her older sister. As if to make a point she twirled around lightly on her heel, the light plum colored dress trailing on the floor and lifting up slightly. She didn't really care about what she wore, dresses and fashion weren't her thing at all.

ʟ ᴀ ᴜ ʀ ᴀ | 246 comments "I've realized you've never had a taste for any type of fashion. Example one, after every dress you've worn before this." Adelaide replied, gesturing to the dress Scarlett was wearing that made her skin a combination if pale and blush-not flattering at all-and made her bright orange hair look like a fireball on top of her head.

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

((Sorry had to go))

"Who are you mourning- your secret lover broke up with you?" The dress Adelaide wore was gray and ugly, making her look old and miserable. Her hair looked limp and- "Your dead fish eyes just make it a lot more horrible."

ʟ ᴀ ᴜ ʀ ᴀ | 246 comments Adelaide smiled at her sweetly. She knew she looked amazing-it was impossible for her not to. Adelaide was easily noticed as the most beautiful and elegant of all of her sisters. She also knew that gray was a beautiful color on her, her blonde hair and blue eyes perfectly complimented. Today, her long blonde hair was swept into an inside out ponytail with her wavy hair flowing over her shoulder. She only had a slight bit of makeup on, though she didn't need it. Adelaide played with the corner of her dress, seeing as Scarlett was never able to get to her. Even if she made fun of her for Thomas. Adelaide rolled her beautiful light blue eyes, unlike her family's green ones, at Scarlett's childish comment. "Why thank you, little sister," she said kindly, not even bothering to insult her back.

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

"You're most welcome." Scarlett said, flipping back her hair over her shoulder slightly. She hadn't bothered to put it up- she never liked it like that anyways. And although Adelaide didn't seem to want to acknowledge it, the plum was a lovely color on her, Scarlett had barely made it to the ballroom with the rather annoying flow of positive compliments. She just had her normal necklace on- the one she had never ever taken off unless she absolutely had to. It was on a simple black cloth cord and had three sets of three silver beads stuck together with intricate carvings. Sure, Scarlett didn't look her best, especially considering she was the prettiest of the princess that did have red hair, and second next to Adelaide.

ʟ ᴀ ᴜ ʀ ᴀ | 246 comments ((Should they be like, super enemies, or like most sisters, where they fight a lot but are nice to each other sometimes?))

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

((Erm... either way is cool, but super enemies sounds fun XD))

ʟ ᴀ ᴜ ʀ ᴀ | 246 comments ((XD Okay))

Adelaide smirked and flipped her gorgeous blonde hair over her shoulder as she turned back towards the window. She didn't see Andrew outside anymore, though she wished to actually speak with him. He was working earlier, but he should be off duties now. Adelaide guessed that he was visiting his sister. She sighed and continued looking at the beautifully trimmed flower beds.

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

"Are you perhaps a flower fairy? You do look awfully like a rotten flower youself. And I've heard flower fairies are most ugly, perhaps even more than a gorgon. And considering your appearance, it would most certainly fit, appearance, personality, and flower obsession and all." Scarlett said snarkily. She knew she probably couldn't deter Adelaide by insulting her appearance, she could use many, many other methods for insulting.

ʟ ᴀ ᴜ ʀ ᴀ | 246 comments Adelaide simply ignored her as she talked about ugly flower fairies or something of the sort. After she said "flower obsession", Adelaide turned slightly. Even though she doubted anyone would know about her slight (well, some would say more than slight) crush on Andrew, Scarlett was the person Adelaide would expect the most to know about it. Scarlett found out about everything in her life, and mocked her for it. "And what might be the matter with flowers? They are beautiful. Look at the gardens," she gestured out the window to the rows upon rows of color. "Aren't they beautiful? Most take being called a flower fairy a compliment, thank you very much. Only beautiful things can create such beautiful flowers." Adelaide smiled sweetly again.

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

Scarlett's sharp green eyes searched the gardens keenly. Where was he? The Gardener, she meant. She thought she had perhaps seen Adelaide with the Gardner from her patio/balcony. And Adelaide's dazed look out of the window merely confirmed it. "Are you looking for your lost lover? I'm sure Father would approve. Then you would be the laughingstock of Krãsa, something you aren't enough."

ʟ ᴀ ᴜ ʀ ᴀ | 246 comments "Hm?" Adelaide turned to look at her, thinking for some reason that she was still talking about the flower fairies. After a minute, she had realized what she had said. "Andrew is not my lost love, he is not my love at all, thank you very much. May I remind you I am to be married altogether to soon? Father has already chosen and approved of a suitor, and he is most certainly not a gardener."

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

((Sorry!!))

ʟ ᴀ ᴜ ʀ ᴀ | 246 comments ((That's okay!))

message 19: by [deleted user] (new)

"We should see about how long you should be sticking with that. You'll probably murder the suitor to run back to your precious little Andy." Scarlett said rather rudely. But she was always rude, sometimes more than other times. But for now she was just going mild on Adelaide- she didn't want her to run away too soon.

ʟ ᴀ ᴜ ʀ ᴀ | 246 comments "I am no murderer, Scarlett. I may not particularly like him, but I would never murder someone." This was only the words that tumbled from her mouth, though. In her head, she was thinking much different thoughts. He doesn't like to be called Andy. Not one bit. It's Andrew, nothing else.

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

"What can I say, sister, you'd have to prove that to me someway or another. In a way perhaps you are right, after all, why would you murder someone who actually doesn't complain about those dead fish eyes of yours? Must be a treat for you."

ʟ ᴀ ᴜ ʀ ᴀ | 246 comments Adelaide rolled her eyes, getting irritated by her sister's remarks. "You are the only one who complains of such things that aren't true. At least mine are a sparkling blue. They're much better than the eel green color of yours, not just in my opinion."

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

"I'm sorry? My eyes are amber, not green. Perhaps you need glasses to have that determined, but you're just to afraid to tell Father and you only poor little Andy-Wandy." Scarlett sneered, batting her eyelashes slightly for effect.

ʟ ᴀ ᴜ ʀ ᴀ | 246 comments "Amber, green, whatever. They both look disgusting in this lighting. And, well, every lighting there is." She smirked and let the snide comment about glasses, Father and Andrew roll off her back.

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

"At least my eyes are unique. You have no idea how many people with sparkling blue eyes I've seen in my lifetime. And you've probably only ever seen your own, considering you spend all of your tile with Andy. Or perhaps I should call him Lover Boy..." Scarlett started, her voice trailing off faintly.

ʟ ᴀ ᴜ ʀ ᴀ | 246 comments Adelaide took a deep breath, trying not to show how much Scarlett was bothering her. "I've met plenty of people, many more than you. Don't forget I am a year older than you. And you're just jealous. Who wouldn't be? You have plain orange hair, just like the rest of our family, and amber/green eyes…just like the rest of our family! Charlotte and I are the only unique ones, which already makes us stand out. Far more than you."

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

"My hair is auburn and in fact almost turning strawberry blonde." That was actually not a lie, underneath it truly was becoming the new hair color. "The rest of the family has green eyes. And amber green is not a color. Amber however, is one of the rarest eye colors ever. I stand out in my own ways. Say... it that Andy I see out the window?" Scarlett ran to the window, opening it, taunting Adelaide wordlessly.

ʟ ᴀ ᴜ ʀ ᴀ | 246 comments Adelaide rolled her eyes. Those may be unique colors, but they are so close to the rest that they blend in just as easily. You don't stand out, unlike me." She shivered slightly as Scarlett opened the window. "Close that window, Scarlett. It's nearing winter, and it's snowing. It's freezing." This alone was true, but she didn't want Scarlett taunting her. She knew Andrew was off duty for the remainder of the night, but knowing him, he would be there preparing for winter until nightfall.

message 29: by [deleted user] (last edited Dec 24, 2014 02:03PM) (new)

"I'm sorry, I don't listen to people who blend in. And besides, I'm not cold and how you feel is not even close to important for me." Scarlett smirked and she thought she spotted a figure in the gardens, a few moments later that thought was confirmed. "Andy! My love!" She cried out, faking Adelaide's voice.

ʟ ᴀ ᴜ ʀ ᴀ | 246 comments Adelaide rolled her eyes once more. He wouldn't believe that was her. Scarlett didn't sound anything like her…did she? Adelaide sighed once more in exasperation. "Scarlett, close the window. You'll freeze us both to sickness." Adelaide moved a step forward, towards her sister and the open window, and noticed a figure in the pale moonlight. Please don't be Andrew. Please don't be Andrew. Please don't be Andrew, she thought after seeing the figure of a man and knowing that unfortunately, it most likely was him. No one else besides guards-and this man was not in a guard uniform-would be out in the gardens at this hour. "Scarlett."

message 31: by [deleted user] (new)

Scarlett turned around, "I'm sorry, sister, but I recover from illnesses quickly and rarely fall ill anyhow." She wasn't deterred at all by the threat and noticed how worried and frightened, not to mention, pale, Adelaide looked. If the figure looked up, Scarlett wasn't sure how she would look to him. The moonlight may make her hair look blonde, brown was more likely, and if there was only a little bit of moonlight perhaps even black.

ʟ ᴀ ᴜ ʀ ᴀ | 246 comments "Anyhow isn't proper, Scarlett," Adelaide responded, hoping to change the subject. Why would this have to happen? Even if Andrew-or who she assumed was Andrew, by the glow of his golden blonde hair in the moonlight-looked up, he wouldn't see Adelaide. She was too far away from the window, only close enough for her to see out, not for anyone to see her in. And Scarlett looked nothing like the blonde young woman standing next to her. No one could mistaken them in daylight, but this wasn't daylight. The moon's soft glow could convince you anything is something-or someone-completely different.

ʟ ᴀ ᴜ ʀ ᴀ | 246 comments ((Hello?))

message 35: by [deleted user] (new)

"You know what? Forget it. You are just as dumb minded as him, and he as you. You two truly are meant for each other." Scarlett said in a sappy let sarcastic tone of voice. She moved away from the window. She had better things to do with her time. "I wonder if father knows..."

ʟ ᴀ ᴜ ʀ ᴀ | 246 comments "Scarlett," Adelaide turned quickly. "Don't you dare go tell father." She quickly regained her posture, realizing what she had said. "It would terrible to go around spreading rumors, especially to the king." Adelaide tried to cover it up, but she wasn't sure if it had worked or not. Knowing Scarlett, it most likely had not.

message 37: by [deleted user] (new)

"Rumors, rumors, rumors. You gossip some, as do I, so why bother preventing just more stuff for others to gossip about? Something you couldn't avoid the humiliation of." Adelaide's cover up had actually slightly made Scarlett hesitate, even if she would never admit it.

ʟ ᴀ ᴜ ʀ ᴀ | 246 comments "I do not gossip, and neither should you. It's unladylike. Extremely unladylike." Adelaide looked around the room quickly, wishing someone would save her from having Scarlett tell their father about this. She would never be able to live it down from her, or regain respect from their father.

message 39: by [deleted user] (new)

"It is not unladylike at all. In fact, half of the ladies in court used their gossiping and information gaining methods to gain respect. And I've heard you gossiping before. And would you mind closing that window? It's best that you don't fall ill so then people can give you your sympathy after all this 'news' gets out."

ʟ ᴀ ᴜ ʀ ᴀ | 246 comments Adelaide stood a bit taller, clasping her hands in front of her. "No, you may leave that window open. You didn't close it before, why bother to care now?" Adelaide shook her head. "And no, women most certainly do not use gossip to gain respect. Especially with men, they detest gossip and think of it as childish and inappropriate for true ladies."

message 41: by [deleted user] (new)

"You really do spend so much time cooped up in your room. Duchess Katherine? She became a Duchess when she told a Duke his wife was having an affair. And Lady Carolina? She was only a lady after the rumors got out about her being forced to give up her title in her homeland outside of Krasa." Scarlett protested, almost completely forgetting about the window affair.

ʟ ᴀ ᴜ ʀ ᴀ | 246 comments Adelaide sighed. Both of these things were being over-exaggerated by Scarlett. "Scarlett, really, stop this." Adelaide shook her head, her blonde wavy locks moving from behind her head to falling beautifully in front of her shoulders. She quickly shut the window and stood in front of it, as if she hadn't done anything. She had politely asked for it to be closed, anyway.

message 43: by [deleted user] (new)

"Oh my, you're obedient?! What a surprise; it must be a new century," Scarlett said fake enthusiasm and real sarcasm. "Should we perhaps talk about which shade of eye shadow matches your dead fish eyes? Or maybe what type of flower looks the color of the lips when it's petals die." She shrugged. "Your choice."

ʟ ᴀ ᴜ ʀ ᴀ | 246 comments Adelaide rolled her eyes once more, thinking of all of this as extremely stupid. "Well, I feel sorry for you then. If you're saying I'm ugly, you're obviously worse. I've always been the most beautiful, and always will be. Just as you've always been second best, and always will be second best compared to me." Adelaide smirked, knowing everyone in the kingdom had always said that she was the most beautiful of all eight princesses, with her gorgeous blonde hair and bright blue eyes.

message 45: by [deleted user] (new)

Scarlett had also always heard that she could be the most beautiful; so she'd always considered it to be a tie. Not that she cared, of course. "I'm not worse at all. And I think it's time for me to head outside, ready to be taken by thieves- something I now realize I would rather have done to me than have such a long conversation with blah old you."

message 46: by ʟ ᴀ ᴜ ʀ ᴀ (last edited Jan 07, 2015 03:03PM) (new)

ʟ ᴀ ᴜ ʀ ᴀ | 246 comments "Be my guest. I'd prefer the same of you any day." With that, Adelaide walked out of the ballroom, away from her annoying younger sister and to the comfort of anywhere else.

message 47: by [deleted user] (new)

Deciding to be creative, Scarlett opened the window once more, removed the curtains and screen, leaving them on the floor and placed one foot on the window sill. She then gingerly placed the other foot on the thin window sill, reached out and grabbed a branch of a tree, managing to climb down. She had indeed completely ruined her dress and her hairdo, but she didn't care less.
