Hello Ladies! I would be thrilled to join you next year in this readalong. I was planning to try to get to them next year and it is always better to have others along for the ride. I can't promise I will keep up but will do my best. I am from Illinois and watch you both on booktube. I have read The Hobbit years ago but have never pushed myself to take on The Lord of the Rings. My husband and I rewatch the movies every Autumn and Winter and love them every time we watch them. I really am very excited for the readalong.Thank you both for doing this.

Hello, everyone! I am from northwestern Pennsylvania where fall is in full splendor right now. I am so excited for this readalong. I have been wanting to read The LOTR for a long time and have checked the first book out of the library multiple times. But somehow I always ended up pushing it off until another time. I love, love The Hobbit and my teenaged son assures me that The LOTR is every bit as magical and amazing. I've watched The Hobbit movie but not The LOTR, so I'm looking forward to that as well. I'm very excited to get to these books--thanks for hosting the readalong!

Kami, I would love to live in the middle of no where Nebraska. We live in Illinois and I have been trying to get my husband to move for a couple of years now. I also have one extended version and love it. I wish all of them were in that. Maybe one day I will buy the others that way.

Anyways when I heard these wonderful ladies were doing this read a long, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to jump into this book series and watch the movies!

I read the first two LOTR books in middle school (I'm pretty sure) but have been itching to complete the series since the movies came out while I was in college (which of course I loved). I have never been able to get into The Hobbit, nor have I have seen the movies, but I will try for the group!

I'm Louise, and I live in Ottawa, Canada. I've seen the Lord of the Rings movies, way back when, but not the Hobbit ones, and I haven't read (well, finished) any of the books. I once had one of those brick-sized all-in-one Lord of the Rings books, but DNF'ed it after 100 pages because of how slow I though it was going. That was probably about 15 years ago though. I know lots of people love the books though, so I'm ready to try again, and am excited to have a great group of people to read these books with!

I am from Missouri, but currently live in Oklahoma.
I have read The Hobbit & Fellowship of the Ring, but have yet to move on in the series. I have wanted to read them for a long time, however, since they were favorites of my late best friend Jenn. I have her copies and will be reading from those.
I have seen the films for the trilogy, but have not seen the Hobbit films yet. I have heard mixed reviews on them, so I am on the fence about trying them for myself.

My name is Jamie and I am from the Northeastern U.S. in a little state called Rhode Island.
I have never read the books, nor seen the movies. Over the summer, I think, I purchased The Hobbit as I was determined to give this series a chance. I haven't read it yet and am looking forward to reading it with everyone in January! Now I just need to get the trilogy. I sense some book shopping soon. :)
I'll have to see if I can get my hands on the movies ... someone in my family must have them.

My name is Zulma and I live in Puerto Rico. Heard about this read along from Sarah's YouTube blog and it sparked my interest. My 3rd grade teacher, back when I lived in New Jersey, read us The Hobbit. About 10 years ago I got a hold of the book and read it myself and practically remembered the whole book so its ok to say that the book stuck with me after all these years. I tried reading the LOTR triology a couple of months back and had to DNF it but I am thinking that maybe this read along is exactly what I need to be able to get through them. I've seen the movies but I am a strong believer in that the books are always way better then the books.

Now I can enjoy reading them with others. I have watched the movies so many times I can quote lines. Now I want to explore the books and the world Professor Tolkien designed. Has anyone seen the film about his life? It came out a few months ago. I heard it was pretty good. I am excited to get started and to read the comments from other fellow readers.

I’ve seen the movies many many times and myself and my husband have been known to have Lord of the Rings days where we watched all three extended versions back to back. 😳 This was before we had children though! I’ve only read the books once and it was about 15 years ago. I sped through them for the movies but I’m looking forward to taking my time this time around and to all the chats.

I'm from western Canada, and I heard about this on Krista's YouTube channel. (Thanks, Krista and Sarah!) I have read the books before, but not in years. I'm normally terrible at rereading, so I thought reading the series with a group would be a great way to motivate myself, and they'll be the bonus of being able discuss the books with you guys. I've also seen the movies, and I love them, albeit in slightly different ways than the books.

I have read these books easily a half dozen times or more. Probably a lot more, but it has been at least five years since the last read-through so I am overdue. I have the extended edition of each on DVD. I've seen them a few times. In fact, I remember watching the first one in the theaters three times the first three days it was out. (with a different group of friends each time, of course)

I have wanted to read this series for so long, but felt a little intimidated by them, so maybe reading it with others will help me get through them. I tend to get tired and quit half way through big books. I have never watched the movies.
