Somewhere in the middle. There murders were described just enough for the reader to get the idea of the fear they must have felt, but without the graphic images.
Again, I agree, Melissa. Brennan gave us just enough to imagine the horrors inflicted on these children without taking it to extremes. It was enough for me. I thought she held back where it was possible.
Somewhere in the middle for me too. I really could not have taken anything graphic and I'm glad it wasn't written that way.
I think she had to write something of the horrors the girls experienced, but I'm glad it wasn't so graphic, too.
