Melissa, this part confused me. Nothing in his history explained that other than he turned into his stepfather because he believed Angel had betrayed him. I wish Brennan had given us something. I could understand him killing her but the raping mystified me.
Chris was one sick dude. I understand his love for Angel, I also understand the environment they were raised in. His rape of Angel was just sick.
Perhaps it was his revenge against her for betraying him. She expected him to keep her safe so he did to her what their stepfather had done.
That is the only reason I could come up with too. He wanted to be her savior and was enraged that she went to someone else.
In his mind, that might have justified his actions toward his half-sister, but I couldn't see that the story required him to rape his first Angel killing. The rapes of future "angels" could have developed without that, I thought. Just more really sick and not loyal to his supposed protecting of her, especially since he knew firsthand how badly she was injured by rape at her young age.
