Hey everyone! Lauren recommended this book. It looks like it can be pretty good. Why don’t we give it a try? Would you guys want to start it November 1st?

I’m about to start chapter 6 and I just watched HDM. I have to go figure out how to access this group via the app rather than relying on the updates via email.

I thought HDM was fantastic. I never read the books or watched the golden compass but thought they did a great job story and world building

Lyra was great. I’m excited to see more.

And I just finished chapter 6. It’s weird. I like it

Just listening to this book makes me cold. Makes me want to read it by a fire in Tahoe in the winter

Just finished chapter 10. The book is finally growing on me. We’re getting to the meat of the story.

Basic idea was good, but ultimately it fell flat. I did not love the whole demon tsar thing. The ending was a little too goody goody for me.

I agree. It started out promising, but the demon was annoying and didn’t make sense. Also, the whole staryk way of living was very confusing. It was a too long fairy tale.

Yeah what was with the staryk servants??? And then after they emptied the caves for her they could talk to her? I don’t know. I think fairytales are short for a reason.

I think it was because she gave them names and made a deal with them to move the silver? Idk.

Sorry guys, bad pick on my part. But man, how did it make the top 100 list?!?!

I’m happy we read it. But I am a little surprised how good of a rating it got on goodreads lol

So I’ve read the first two chapters of The institute and it’s really good. It won some awards on goodreads too. Would you guys want to start it Sunday? So it gives everyone time to finish the book they’re currently reading? Lauren, you said something else might want to join, are you able

Ok. It’s worth a shot. I tried to put myself on the waitlist for the online library and I’m #14 on 2 copies which is a good sign that it’s a decent book. It’s also a sign that I’ll have to not be so cheap and just buy the book. This gives me motivation to read the book I started.

Nice B. The stuff he’s been writing lately has been really good. The last book he wrote, The Outsider was really good and HBO is making it a show in January it comes out. So I’m sure this book will be a show or movie soon enough.
I’ve read 20 pages of it already but will wait to start the rest until Sunday. Its very intriguing so far

I just started catch 22 and then just got a notice saying that I got slaughterhouse five from the library. Going with some oldies.

I heard catch 22 is pretty good. Well i was going to start The Poppy War soon. The author is a 25 year old female. It’s a fantasy novel that’s been getting good reviews. I’m impressed by how popular this book is by such a young author. If you guys have any interest let me know. I can wait a while, I’m currently need to finish acouple books

I’m slowly getting back into reading. But I do have three books I want to read. I’ll look up the book you suggested. Did you ever read Red Rising? That series is really good

I still need to get to Red Rising. Im starting to read a lot more so I’ll try to get to that soon. It does sound like an awesome story
