Spec-Ops fans, how many of these names are you familiar with?

Nick Carter, the Killmaster (1976 revival of a character from 1886!)
Mack Bolan, the Executioner
Richard Camellion, the Death Merchant
Matt Helm by Don Hamilton
Remo Williams, the Destroyer

...these were all 'Rambo' type characters before Stallone, Van Damme, and Arnie grew to become the dominating pop-culture model for fiction authors in this genre

I read many Mack Bolan books, while I saw the movie 'Remo Williams, the adventure begins'. The Mack Bolan books were good, but had a bit too much emphasis on horrible torture sessions inflicted to victims of the Mafia. That was a turnoff for me.

gotta love that Remo Williams flick. Truncated from what was supposed to be a series. Joel McCrae as his martial arts master!! Does it get any better?
