Gary here and I'm interested in me and my family not being a burden to others during hard or difficult times.
I like to read a bit of everything, but really enjoy classic literature and reading about historical periods. I've always been the type of person who likes to be ready for any contingency so I was naturally drawn to Prepping. Thanks for the invite.
I'm an Air Force vet, husband, father, etc. I prepare because it is my responsibility to provide for my family. I read apocalyptic prepper fiction. And tons of it
Hello everyone. My name is Beau. I grew up in rural Australia where bushfires are a threat for 6 months of the year, so having contingency plans and being aware of my surroundings was just part of growing up in the bush. During my teens I was an active member of the local Search & Rescue Group and the Bushfire Brigade. Belonging to these organizations taught me a lot about about myself, the value of being prepared, and where people go wrong.I have trained in (and taught) several different styles of martial art and self defense programs. I enjoy archery and target shooting, but don't have the time to do them very often. I also enjoy kayaking on the river.
Books I like to read..... I like reading: dystopian, science fiction, war, horror, history, fitness, self defense, and survival books. I enjoy reading Self Defense and Survival manuals because they give someone else's point of view on subjects that I am already familiar with; a little like attending a lecture, but I get review the material at my leisure.
In recent times I have drawn heavily on my training and experience as inspiration for writing my own books.
I'm Jeanette. :) A mom foremost. I live in an area where tornadoes are a threat so I've always felt the need to be somewhat prepared. As a homeschool mom that need got kicked into overdrive. My fiancee is not survival-minded so I'm basically doing it all for my family. I read everything. I'm a collector of books and knowledge. :)
Neat to read where everyone is from and stuff...I'm Erin. I'm a Colorado native and currently live in Colorado...I'm a mom, wife, sister, daughter, volunteer, and employee...
About 11 years ago, we got three feet of snow, then a couple years ago we got a heavy wet snow before leaves fell...Both instances resulted in no power for days, very cold temperatures, etc...
Even if there is never an apocalyptic crisis or societal collapse...Things happen.
I think it's important to stay warm, have some food and water, and keep my family safe and protected. Since the event 11 years ago, without going into a ton of details...I've changed a lot of behaviors and pursued improvements in our overall level of independence...
I like historical fiction, political non-fiction, apocalyptic scenarios, military, crime/mystery/law enforcement-themed, history...Just anything that looks interesting...I am not into silly, girly crap tho.
Thanks for including me, everyone!
I'm Steve, my wife is the prepper, my best friend is the survivalist. I grew up with a wide variety of interests that translate well to both. I read just about everything. Currently working my way through Bruce Hemming's Grid Down books, and the classic Ben Raines series. I've been a hiker, camper, EMT, kayaker, and just loved the outdoors most of my life. Licensed ham radio operator, and just an athletic geek. I live in a rural area, and being prepared is a way of life.
First and foremost, thanks for the invite. This is a topic I need to invest more time in, especially with the uneasy engineered circumstances in the world today. I am a Christian and interested in getting to know other Christians and I have no doubt we will need each other very soon if we want to attempt survival. My reading interests are varied but most of my favorite reading centers around history and the unseen hand that's been guiding it for longer than anyone of us probably considers to be true. As Jesus said in His Olivet Discourse, "Don't let anyone deceive you." God bless to all.
I am Mitchell, I am just a teen (17) in California who is trying to prep, I have plans to move to Alaska (you can get free land and pay only 1 per acre in taxes, max 20 acres) and I have dabbled in the idea of writing a series of helpful (and short) prepping books each has a different topic
My name is Sonny and I live in rural Tennessee. I have been interested in survival since I was a youngster. My wife and I have been prepping for a couple of years now. We like to be self sufficient not dependent on anyone especially the government. Don't get me started on politics! I like reading books about survival, historical fiction (especially medieval), history, especially WW II, science fiction, mysteries, pretty much anything that I consider entertaining.
I'm Rob and I live in Ontario Canada. I'm into preparedness because I believe that the things that keep society operating in a lawful and peaceful fashion can disappear in a second. It's my responsibility to prepare for disruptions both small and large and be able to look after my family.I'd have to rate myself as newb in terms of what I have done so far with prepping. That being said, I'm glad I have started and now have a plan.
Greetings Everyone,I'm Peter and I live over in Australia, in Victoria. Thanks for the invitation.
One of my favourite genre's in both films and books is the post apocalyptic genre. I'm a product of the Cold War generation, and lived under the threat of nuclear war for the early parts of my life. In fact, when I was in year 12, my final year of high school, part of the curriculum was studying the effects of a nuclear strike and how to survive it if not too close to the burst radius.
I grew up reading books like John Christopher's Tripod Trilogy and John Wyndham's Day of the Triffids.
My name is Sara I live in Northern California now but grew up hunting, fishing and loving the outdoors in Michigan. I like to think of myself less as a prepper and more of a nature lover. My distrust of the western medical practices fueled my interest in herbal medicine and learning what nature has to provide for us that our society is rapidly forgetting. I enjoy playing ice hockey, working out, archery, target shooting, hunting, and learning about nature.
I am a spoiled wife and a proud mother of two great boys.
I have a very active imagination and dreamed up the story that I titled Day After Disaster and published June 3rd of this year. I am just about done with the sequel and the story keeps growing and growing. My books focus on changes the earth is going through and how humans will have to adapt.
Thanks so much for the invite. It's about time this group was formed!
Day After Disaster
Hi,My name is Lincoln Knight and I'm currently finishing my first novel Second Event. It is the first in a thriller trilogy.
I'm very interested in survival/preparedness and the mechanisms that enable you to thrive. As they say, you should write about what you know.
Tom Cosgrove is thrust in to a world where the rules no longer apply after an unprecedented solar flare impacts with the Earth’s atmosphere. Does he have what it takes to survive and keep his family safe whilst most of the country burns to the ground?
The book is going to be released completely free of change and an extensive preview is available on the website http://www.second-event.com
Any feedback would be greatly received.
Thanks,
Linc
Hi Linc,Sounds like an interesting book! I too am an author my book Day After Disaster is a look into one person's survival story amidst disaster. I look forward to connecting with you in the future!

Hi all,I'm Sam and I live in the relative safety of Cardiff, South Wales. I work as an ecologist so am out and about a lot which I love and I'm partial to a good zombie story which often put people's survival abilities to the test and then some.
Hi everyone. David here. I grew up through the years of the Cold War, served an active 22 years in the forces, then worked as Training Manager for Scotland for the British Red Cross for 4 years, and have been deep into survival and prepping for about 50 years (yep, I'm an old git now!). I was writing for various magazines for many years, have submitted a few to Prepare magazine in the US over the past year or two, and have 1 fiction, 4 independent non-fiction and 1 joint-authored non-fiction books currently on Amazon Kindle and in Print, most of them also in print with Lulu. I'm currently writing another fiction - Slow The Shadow Creeps - and a non-fiction - How Can I Get Home? I look forward to discussions with you all.More about me at http://www.tfns.co.uk
About Me: I'm your average guy, hear to absorb and learn everything I can about life before life is over. I as like most people have many hats; Veteran, poet, Survivalist, athlete, outdoorsman, brother, follower of Yeshua, prepper, EMT etc.I'm a full time RVer who loves to travel all over the world. Living is about survival so why not be good at it? I have a YouTube channel about preparedness (http://m.youtube.com/user/LatinoAsian...).
I'm an ex teacher from Sweden, that came to the US to be close to my daughter's dad. Become a single mom in a world completely different from what I was used to, and decided to make sure that I was going to be able to provide for my little girl now matter what. Currently working towards my goal of having a small homestead where we produce the majority of our food. Looking forward to share experiences, and learn from you guys!/Maria
Hey everyone, I'm up here in Ohio by the lake. We may be in a relatively good area as far as disasters go, but we still have more than plenty of snow, and of course a nice big nuclear plant not far enough away. I grew up going out to the country all the time and playing sports, so I naturally stayed active and learned a deep respect for the freedoms of nature and the country life. I primarily live in the city, but have grown to see its downfalls more and more as I got older. After studying history, then eventually making my way into geopolitics and economics I very quickly saw how fragile the great big system we have come to rely on really is. Let alone the fact that it is mathematically impossible to sustain. Couple that with my awakening upon learing the way the world really works, and it is only logical to start to learn preparedness and self-sufficiency skills. Besides, I have grown up an only child and have basically always figured out how to do things on my own. It simply feels like a natural state of being for me.
I love reading all kinds of collapse and disaster novels. Just started Tom Abrahams' Traveler series. I've managed to read a couple hundred in the genre so far, and I just can't seem to get enough of it.
That's when I finally decided to begin writing my own. I am currently in the process of doing my final edit before hiring a professional editor. I have already started working on a part two, and have also written a little 100 page zombie novella as well. Yes, I also love zombie novels. I also enjoy science fiction and thrillers, as long as the author is good. But, regardless of whatever fiction books I am reading, I always have a non-fiction book going as well. I love military history, ancient history, science/physics, and of course political works as long as they're about the TRUTH. I simply cannot go in for any more propagandist garbage anymore. There is far too much of it in the news, and I don't even watch the MSM news, yet still get more than I want.
Anyways, nice to meet you all. Feel free to message me anytime. I am always looking for fellow preppers or readers for good conversation. Don't be shy.
I've been away from this group for a little while, but I'd like to welcome everyone to this little corner of the internet. Please feel free to have a look around the group, and to start a few interesting conversations we can all engage in.
Hi, im new to the group. Im a reading nut. I am self taught proper /survivalist . I enjoy the outdoors more than I enjoy living in the suburbs . I live in the Northwest I love everything about the mountains the rivers fishing the hunting living off the land .
Howdy all,I've had an interest in this subject since the 80's. Recently retired military. Ham extra class. And having hopes of getting to take some concrete steps in preparing.
Not quite sure what all to include so I guess I'm a work in progress here. Any questions, feel free to ask.
Hello All :DI'm a retired nurse and history buff living on the New Madrid fault.
Interested in learning more about how to prepare for any type of disaster.
My name is Nicholas Kay, author of "The Norcom Union" series of post-apocalypse/dystopian novels, shorts, and YouTube audiobooks.I'm from Utah in the United States originally, but presently living in Georgia.
I write exclusively dystopian and post-apocalypse stories, but my favorite of all time is The Wheel of Time. I have read and listened to that a dozen times already.
I got interested in writing dystopian/PA novels while living in Beijing. I just couldn't help but wonder, what would happen in a city like Beijing (or, as it's gradually becoming, Jing JIn Ji) following an apocalyptic event? This became the seed from which "The Norcom Union" grew.
I can't pin myself down to one way of life, and therefore have a hard time fitting into any particular group. I write, I teach, I am a "Great Collapse" prepper, an outdoors enthusiast, I've lived in several countries long-term, and on and on. It's hard to nail me down.
I would probably survive the apocalypse I wrote about, but I probably wouldn't survive the hyper-authoritarian Union.
Rather than going the traditional route of publishing and self publishing, I have opted to make my books free audiobooks FIRST on YouTube, and then when they are finished, to publish them in their entirety on amazon.
Please check out my YouTube channel, sub, like, comment, and share. I would love to have everyone join me on my adventures in the Union.

Hi I'm Warren Redlich. I just published my first novel, a prepper apocalyptic story set in Florida. Before I moved to Japan, I was a moderate prepper, with various preps including an "apocalypse cabin", which is exaggerated in the novel.
Kindle edition is currently on a 3-day free promotion. Feedback appreciated.

Warren Redlich, I checked out your Goodreads page about the book, but you have not included your back cover copy to tell about the book there?
"Lisa Hatfield shares emergency preparedness ideas so people will be ready for natural and family disasters and be able to help themselves and others in the middle of chaos." author of
To Starve an Ember (wildfire preparedness and dealing with + unresolved smoldering issues between son and father that need to be dealt with... and HOW TO! )
and
To Melt a Snowdrift (blizzard preparedness + woman who grew up with controlling mom and never learned to speak up for herself so her sweet husband has no clue she's just going along with him on stuff until he gets them stuck in the blizzard in his 18-wheeler)
Hi, I am Mylène from The Netherlands and I’m interested to get myself ready for whatever. Lately it seems like history is repeating itself in Europe (but globally it seems) and I want to be prepared. Also interested to live (semi) off grid in some woods and on a mountain. Fed up with grinding the capitalistic life. About me: I’m 48 living with my cat have my own home, a car and a good job. I have a daughter of 23 (living in her own) and I love reading books from female authors about history, family dynamics, cultures, fantasy and sci-fi, dystopian and personal development.
Hi, I'm Jessica, from western Pennsylvania. I'm a mom, gardener and an herbalist, grew up hunting, foraging and learning how to live off the land. I believe knowledge is the key to survival. I love reading dystopian fiction, survival, some sci-fi and historical fiction, and a little romance sometimes.
Hi, Chuck here.I'm former law enforcement, a pilot and author of the series Potters' Run.
I live on a rural property in the inland Northwest where we raise chickens, goats, dogs and kids.
I spent 17 years flying missions in direct support of the military in places like Iraq, Afghanistan and similar garden spots in Africa.
I'm presently trying to find work closer to home.
Hi everyone—new member here, checking in from rural coastal Virginia. When I moved out here (no stoplights in the county), I started with a basic 3-day hurricane supply. But after watching how long it can take for help to arrive—or not—I bumped it to 7 days. Then came Katrina, and I started asking harder questions. These days, I prep with the mindset that self-reliance isn’t optional—it’s just part of living where I do.
This year I’m starting my kitchen garden using GreenStalk towers, aiming for a compact, high-yield setup. I’ve got staggered sowing mapped out for lettuce, scallions, parsley, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and more. I’m testing succession planting to keep things productive through the heat and into fall.
I read a lot of science fiction and survival-themed fiction—favorites include Alas, Babylon, Earth Abides, The Expanse, The Hyperion Cantos, and The Fifth Season. I also work as a genre editor, mostly in science fiction, fantasy, and paranormal romance. I help indie authors sharpen their stories and clarify their vision, especially when it comes to pacing, world-building, and character arcs. I’m always interested in how survival themes shape narrative tension and emotional stakes.
Looking forward to learning and sharing here. Appreciate the space.
