Where the Mountain Meets the Moon discussion

This book takes the reader on a journey that is completely unexpected. This is not just a story for children and/or teens. I am a senior in college and just read this book for a class and I was pleasantly surprised at how amazing Where the Mountain Meets the Moon was. I did not want to put it down. I felt as though I was there with Minli, the main character, each step of the way. Minli goes on a journey to help her poor family. She is in search of good fortune so that her parents do not have to work so hard in the rice fields. Her father tells her stories each night about the Old Man of the Moon and Minli believes that she will be able to find him and change her families fortune. This story offers great multicultural value; it shows different Chinese tales and customs that would be interesting to learn in a classroom setting. I would definitely recommend this book!
