Alexis For my book review I chose to read The Way you Make Me Feel by Maureen Goo. I was very surprised by this book once I read it. I felt that it might be a hard to read because it is aimed for younger crowed, but I actually really enjoyed it. Clara is in high school and was raised mainly by her dad while her mom traveled the world most of the year being a social media influencer. Clara was not the type to be quiet and to herself, she loved to be around people and be rebellious. As I read the book I felt like the rebellious phase could have been stemmed from her mother not being present in her life and wanting a way to stand out. As the book progressed Clara gets in a fight with Rose whom she dislikes at prom, and as a punishment their parents decide to make them work together over the summer to resolve their differences. Clara and her were far from similar which led for them to have an interesting summer together. While working at Clara's fathers food truck she meets Hamlet who she starts to fall for. By the end of summer Clara learns her whole perception of Rose was wrong, and they become best friends by the end of summer and Hamlet becomes her boyfriend. This book was a great way to show a young girl grow out of a phase that was taking her down a wrong path and finding herself from it. Clara learns to let people in and have deeper relationships then she would have before. This book did a great job of covering diversity of LA without it being obvious that their was differences between the characters. I really enjoyed this book, and would recommend it for any young teens that enjoy a funny/love story.
