Read Aloud Books for Children discussion

I've been thinking about this some.

I think the important thing is that the reader enjoys the book. If the reader doesn't enjoy it, then the listeners will pick up on it.

I don't think a read-aloud book should be too preachy. I think it's best when the lesson of the book is disguised as a well-written story where the kids figure it out on their own, not have it shoved down their throats.
