I was tired of my lady, we'd been together too long.
Like a worn-out recording, of a favorite song.
So while she lay there sleeping, I read the paper in bed.
And in the personals column, there was this letter I read:
"If you like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain.
If you're not into yoga, if you have half-a-brain.
If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape.
I'm the lady you've looked for, write to me, and escape."
I didn't think about my lady, I know that sounds kind of mean.
But me and my old lady, had fallen into the same old dull routine.
So I wrote to the paper, took out a personal ad.
And though I'm nobody's poet, I thought it wasn't half-bad.
"Yes, I like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain.
I'm not much into health food, I am into champagne.
I've got to meet you by tomorrow noon, and cut through all this red tape.
At a bar called O'Malley's, where we'll plan our escape."
So I waited with high hopes, then she walked in the place.
I knew her smile in an instant, I knew the curve of her face.
It was my own lovely lady, and she said, "Oh, it's you."
And we laughed for a moment, and I said, "I never knew"..
"That you liked Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain.
And the feel of the ocean, and the taste of champagne.
If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape.
You're the love that I've looked for, come with me, and escape."
"If you like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain.
If you're not into yoga, if you have half-a-brain.
If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape.
You're the love that I've looked for, come with me, and escape."

It's silly and off topic, but I've always felt that line "I knew her smile in an instant. I knew the curve of her face." was so romantic. The curve part...

no no no i won't hear that Kandice - off topic is my favourite place ... and i agree the curve part is totally romantic

Kate Bush's Babooshka tells the story of a wife who sets about seducing her husband under a pseudonym - just to see if he would be faithful (ah that old trick - who hasn't done that!) ...
in my opinion, Kate was / is quite a skilled story fix dealer - several of her songs were based around stories like this ... and i love the way she links the words together with the rhythm of the music in this one - my favourite Bush fix i think ...
AND, in my opinion, there should be more occasion for skimpy Russian outfits like this one ...

here's the lyrics if you want to sing along ('cos i just know that you do)
She wanted to test her husband
She knew exactly what to do
A pseudonym to fool him
She couldn't have made a worse move
She sent him scented letters
And he received them with a strange delight
Just like his wife
But how she was before the tears
And how she was before the years flew by
And how she was when she was beautiful
She signed the letter
"All yours,
Babooshka, Babooshka, Babooshka-ya-ya!"
She wanted to take it further
So she arranged a place to go
To see if he
Would fall for her incognito
And when he laid eyes on her
He got the feeling they had met before.
Uncanny how she
Reminds him of his little lady
Capacity to give him all he needs
Just like his wife before she freezed on him
Just like his wife when she was beautiful
He shouted out "I'm
All yours,
Babooshka, Babooshka, Babooshka-ya-ya!
Forever!"
