1.6 Favorite Author

This month's author is Dorothea Benton Frank Dorothea Benton Frank

“I have always thought that librarians are a little bit like doctors, travel agents and professors all rolled into one. We all know that a great story can lift spirits, take you anywhere in the world you want to go and in any time period to boot, and the lessons you learn from a good book can buoy your own convictions and even change your life. ”
― Dorothea Benton Frank

This year Dorothea left us on September 2, 2019. "Thank you" Dorothea for all the wonderful books you shared with us.

Read a book written by this author.

1.7 (Tessa's task) Happy Birthday to Me

Go to Link: Surprise Me Task

2.2 Read through the Alphabet
Read 2 books

1. Letter P
Read a book with a title that starts with the Letter P (exclude A, An, or The)

e.g. Queen Hereafter: A Novel of Margaret of Scotland, The Quickening Maze

2.3 (Linda C's Task) Fruitcake
Read 2 books

I love fruitcake, but it is not everyone's favorite. Here are a couple of ways to honor the fruitcake without actually eating it.

1. Read a book with a fruit or a cake on the cover (show cover) or with the author's first and last name initials in FRUITCAKE.
Get an extra point if there is an actual fruitcake on the cover.

2. Fruitcake can be used as a slang term for someone who is a little crazy.

Read a book with a character who is considered a little off (quote a line in the text or from the blurb that refers to this character's craziness)
or read a book that has Mental Health or Mental Illness as a tag

2.4 (Tessa's Task) My Favorite Things
Read 2 books

Though it didn't start out as a Christmas song, My Favorite Things from The Sound of Music has become a perennial Christmas favorite, played frequently on every "holiday-song" radio channel. So who am I to argue. This task is based on TWO of MY Favorite Things.

1. CHRISTMAS - I love Christmas - the songs, the food, the decorations, the cookies! - Read a book with a Main Page Genre of CHRISTMAS

2. ELEPHANTS - I've always loved and been fascinated by these interesting animals. My mother recorded in my baby book that one of my first words was "elephant"!
Read a book with an elephant on the cover. (Post the COVER)

Three Point Task

3.1 (Linda C's Task) Completing Challenges
Read 3 books

Last month we worked on series, this month we'll work on completing those year end challenges.

Read three books that help you make a challenge deadline.

* They can be for the same challenge or three different challenges. But they need to be for something that needs to be completed by the end of the year.

*If you are not into challenges (other than this one) you may use your personal reading goal for the end of the year as your challenge.

*If that still doesn't work for you, you may use this challenge and list three books you read this month that didn't work for any of the other tasks, therefore helping you reach a goal here.

*Please tell us what challenge each book was read for. (You might just spark an interest in a challenge for someone for next year!)
