What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I read this book in the early 1990’s I remember it was a popular book.. A boy and his mother were wanted by an organisation and were being chased around Europe because they had some information, a number code I think. The mother gets killed by being trapped and burned alive in a car and the boy sees it and flees. He is then pursued by someone but also wants to find his mothers killer. Spoiler alert.at the end of the book the boy goes to a bridge where he approaches from one and and the enemy comes from the other end. At a signal from the boy an unseen sniper assassinates the enemy and the boy walks away, having got revenge for his mothers death.
