StarMan (thestarman) | 1943 comments Bah, Humbug!

With 1/3 of the votes, our winner for December is Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, which several of you holiday-minded Snails suggested.

It's a fairly short book (or a novella), at around 100-150 pages in most printed versions. Let us know what you think of it if you're reading or re-reading it with the Book Snails!

A Christmas Carol is a novella by English author Charles Dickens. It was first published by Chapman & Hall on 19 December 1843. It tells the story of a bitter old miser named Ebenezer Scrooge and his transformation resulting from a supernatural visit by the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley and the Ghosts of Christmases Past, Present and Yet to Come.... Just finished my re-read. It had been awhile so I was still shocked when (view spoiler) I also really liked that (view spoiler) I don’t think that’s been included in any movie adaptation I’ve ever seen.

Question for all: What is your favorite movie adaptation of A Christmas Carol?
Mine is definitely The Muppet Christmas Carol!

Oh my goodness, I’ve never seen that one! Sadly, Disney+ won’t have it available until November of next year 😒
I’ll have to check my library...

I read "A Christmas Carol" for the first time this season, finished it a few days ago, and am so glad I did. I enjoyed it so much, I'm thinking about making it an annual holiday read. I hope it put everyone else in the Christmas mood; it is truly a classic for a reason! :-)
