The Hat Man is a silhouette. One can not tell where his cloths end and where his skin begins, it is all just an inky black shade. He is supposed to have a trench coat on, although some say it's a suit; along with his hat, which some say is a fedora while others claim he wore a top hat. His eyes are said to be empty, hollow and void; yet they glow with the ethereal light of his victims' souls.

The Hatman is cold and empty. Void of any human emotion. In his eyes there is not one identifiable feeling. Only an endless abyss of nothingness. Pure and utterly hollow. He feels nothing, at least nothing along the lines of joy, satisfaction or love. No, if anything, he feels sadness, grief, depressed, angry, enraged and hateful. He is filled with melancholy and sadism. He is the embodiment of nihilism and hopelessness. Despair and woe are his constant companions, as is death, insanity, and destruction. He leaves his victims crippled and broken, both inside and out.

( History )
Like all other Shades, he is born from the Dark Presence, and extension of his will, bound to it by the connection of Creator and Creation. His history is a tricky one, filled with lies and misconceptions. He has haunted this earth since the dawn of man and before that. He hunts down the weak willed and the wounded souls, easy prey to feed off of. He was employed to Zalgo at an unknown date and hence began to prepare the world for his return. He is like Nyarlathotep, a messenger of a Great Old God.

He watches and waits for the signs to appear. When the first Black Blooded became, he smiled a smile too wide for his face and laughed. This was the start of mankind's downfall. He carried messages between this world and the world below. He does his work with what could only be called a passion, although the feeling is something foreign to him. He wants the end of man to come, so the sun can die and light to be stomped out. So his kind can once again dance in the endless night.

Shades are made from a collection of shadow energy and dark matter. They can not mate and are not born. Shades have a variety of different forms, the lowest being Remoras, named after the Remora Suckerfish. These are just orbs or blobs of shadow mass that have a very low functioning mind, and act much like a feral animal. Shades often keep Remoras as pets.

( History ) She was the youngest of her family. Poppy's real parents disappeared and she was given to a foster family at the age of 3. She doesn't remember her real mother but she remembers her real father a little. However she thought he was a doctor or foster care worker. She has memory problems and is partially blind in both eyes. Her foster family neglected and abused her. Poppy was raped and used as a doll to men that payed to use her. She always viewed herself as a object. When she met Splendorman in her backyard she was kind and lead to him having a soft spot which made him visit her often in that same spot. However, one day she wasn't outside and Splendorman came and found her beside her "father" and "mother" which were stitched together surrounded by toys. Now she stays with slender and the proxies.
