I've wanted to read this for so long and this is during my break from uni so a great time to start it :)
I've also looked forward to reading this one! I'm starting a new job, in a new field in the next couple of weeks so I hope I have the mental capacity left over to take it on. Are we getting specific with what translation?
I don't think we need to worry about translation. I honestly don't know much about Russian translators. I'm debating between my Clothbound penguin edition or the free kindle edition…
I'm reading the Penguin edition translated by Richard Pevear and Larissa Volokhonsky. It seems they have won several awards for Russian literature translation.
I got mine for free on the Kindle. I'm excited for this! It's so big, I've been kinda daunted by it, but reading it together is going to be really nice. Seems like it'll be perfect for winter as well, which'll be nice.
Definitely looking forward to this read! This will be my second attempt to reading this novel (got too distracted by school work in the past). I have the official movie-tie edition from Vintage Books.
Planning to read a part a week, starting this week...unless I get totally wrapped up in the story and can't put it down. I have the Maude translation. Looking forward to this. :)
Was doing well at the beginning of the month but hit a wall with the end of term slump. Finally picked it back up today and now I'm 1/4th of the way through it. How's everyone else doing?
Hoping to finish the second part today. Started aforementioned new job and time for reading has decreased as expected so the going is slow but I'm still enjoying what I'm reading. :)
I'm just about to start! I couldn't get the chance because I was packing and moving out of University this week. Finally home for Christmas so I'll start getting some good reading in now I think.
I've only just started part 2, but I'm really enjoying it. I'm off of school this Thursday though, so that's when I hope to catch up.
Im so behind on reading this. Still on part 1! I was finishing another book. Got another to finish before I get back to Tolstoy.
Just got past the halfway point. I'm hoping to finish this before Christmas. I think I like Levin and Kitty's stories much better than Anna and Vronsky's. Dotty is by far my favourite character.
