Michael | 432 comments I just noticed today is the last day to vote for the Goodreads Choice Awards for 2014. There are some authors of color included here, though still very underrepresented. Noteworthy is Celeste Ng's Everything I Never Told You, which we read this year. It missed the genre finals, but is listed under "Best Debut Goodreads Author of 2014".

I saw two books by authors of color in the Fiction category: Nadia Hashimi's The Pearl That Broke Its Shell and Haruki Murakami's Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage (I noticed the group read Murakami's 1Q84 in February, 2012). Does anyone know anything about those?

I'm curious if anyone knows how Science Fiction author Daniel Suarez identifies himself. He has Influx in the top 10 SF this year.

Any other authors of color anyone wants to spotlight?

Michael | 432 comments Thanks, Beverly!

I also discovered that Ignite Me by Iranian American Tahereh Mafi is a contender for Best Young Adult Fantasy & Science Fiction. I know nothing about the series, though.
