What I remember out the story is that the young girl's name was Linda. She and her older brother were adopted (I think) by their grandparents after their parents died. I believe they lived in the southwest US (Arizona perhaps). She loved horses. There were several (less than 10 I think) books in the series. The book covers were a tealish-green (paperback version). The books would have been published in the late 1980s/early 1990s.

Maybe the Linda Craig series by Ann Sheldon? Found searching online. The first book is The Palomino Mystery. It was first published in 1962 and then again in 1981.
The reviews say that the series is about a girl named Linda who lives with her older brother Bob and her grandparents Bronco and Doña in Rancho del Sol (they mention that the parents died).
Yes, this is it!!!! I didn't realize they were published earlier.
