Mount TBR 2015 discussion

This year I'm being less ambitious than last and going for a smaller mountain, Mont Blanc. Except that I'm going to try and make the 24 books count by reading 24 chunky or non-fiction books... of which I have 'many' waiting to be read!

Hi Zaara, nice to meet you. I tried Mount Ararat this year and will not quite make it, so I thought I'd pitch my ambitions a bit lower for next year. LOL!

I read quite a lot... just not my own books. I'm kind of addicted to the library. :-D

Hi Cath..stopped by your blog post...ive read a couple on your TBR..the Agatha Christie autbiography...definitely the best thing she's written. And Tigana. Its good too.
Outlander and the Rothfuss books are on my TBR list too...SIGH...the list never gets shorter, does it?

Yeah, the illustrations in Untrodden Peaks and Unfrequented Valleys are pretty stunning.

Sayers is one of my all-time favorites!

Leslie: Since I discovered Sayers during the Vintage Crime challenge she's become a huge favourite with me. Such a sublime writer.

Bev: I can understand that... she's now one of mine too. I adored Gaudy Night, just loved it. Can't get it out of my head even though I'm now reading something else.

I read your review of this book...straight from the heart and full of personal insights, but that's nothing new ;-) I've come to take your usual high standards for granted. I particularly liked the part where you say there is a time for each book and it will find you only in that moment. I guess this happens to all of us...the universe speaks to us sometimes thru what we read...and it's just what we need to hear in that time, in that one droplet of infinity.

Exactly! How beautifully put. And because I want to know about this universe we live in I want to read 'everything'. Which can be a bit of a problem... ;-)

Hehe yeah...book greed.. all the different kinds: wanna read once/wanna put on hold at the library/I've gotta buy that someday/I'm getting this one NOW...among others. Its funny really :-) all of us here with our neverending TBR lists and yet, as a friend of mine once put it (I think she had it as her status update): "adding to TBR...my favourite activity on GR."
I literally laughed out loud.

You're going great Cath. I know you will conquer this one and I'm hoping you are able to hike one of the higher peaks...

Oh yes... 'book greed'... a perfect description of it. And too funny about adding to the TBR pile. Another favourite activity here is creating a new shelf and finding the right books to put on it. I'm very easily pleased. LOL!

I would say not....that's why the Mount TBR Challenge is needed for so many of us. :-)

And...back to our discussion of library book sales...I went to ours yesterday. And walked out with 40 new (to me) books. All vintage mysteries--you know how hard it is for me to resist those. I'm proud to say that I didn't walk out with ALL the vintage mysteries that were were there...see, I can exercise some self-control. Lol.

Wow Bev, great haul! I love those British mysteries from the 'Golden Age' (and quite a lot of the American ones too).

Leslie, it really was. I had missed the first two days of the sale and (based on the slim mystery pickings of the last two years) wasn't expecting much to be left. I nearly fell over when I saw the treasure trove.

LOL... that's just too funny. :-D Well, it would have been cruel not to liberate those 40 captive books. We can't have cruelty to 'books' now can we???

My town library's sale was so small a couple of weeks ago I only got 4 books. I'm waiting for a couple of the larger towns in Devon to have one then I'll be staggering out of the building like you. ;-P
