#LadiesFirst20 Challenge
I have it narrowed down to three, and am definitely joining in!Choices: ANNA DRESSED IN BLOOD, Kendare Blake, THE GOOD HOUSE, Tananarive Due, or THE TWISTED ONES, T. Kingfisher (LOHF January read along).
Such a tough choice!! If you don't choose The Good House, let me know if you want to get a buddy read going (since I didn't wind up choosing that one) later in the month or February. :)

I've heard it's good, but I've had ANNA DRESSED IN BLOOD on my pile longer!
Does it have to be one of the books from the bookshelf or can it be, for example, a Susan Hill or Shirley Jackson novel?
Jen (Book Den) wrote: "It can be any horror book written by a woman so those are perfect!"Thanks for the reply Jen.
Now I just have to decide which one to choose.
I’m going with: We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson. This is one I’ve wanted to read for awhile now.

I have just now discovered the Ladies of Horror Fiction AND I AM PUMPED!!!! I love book clubs/reading challenges, but horror and darker fiction is my go-to and it's usually not the standard club cup of tea. I am jumping in on this challenge with Parasite by Mira Grant!
Same here. I love my book club but I’m very much the odd duck with the darker stuff I like to read. Surrounded by some like-minded loves here!
My in-person book club won't have the horror either. :) They are definitely my "outside of my comfort zone" book friends.
I LOVE Mira Grant!!! The Feed books are SO good!!!! Maybe I’ll change my mind and read Feedback. I was planning on reading The Twisted Ones by T. Kingfisher.

I'm pretty new here, so I haven't been active within the group yet, but -- hi! I keep switching what I'm going to read... but my final answer is The Cult Called Freedom House
Kevin wrote: "I just started Return to Dyatlov Pass by J.H. Moncrieff and it’s great right out of the gate!"Another one I absolutely loved!!
Started Anna Dressed in Blood, and now also reading The Twisted Ones--both women authors, but I think the first finished will be ANNA. :)
i ended up reading a random ARC book yesterday - 101 Awesome women who transformed science - so ...still by a woman but definitely not horror lol. now i'm reading the twisted ones for the buddy read though so i guess at least i got in there with the second read of the year ;)
I'm looking forward to participating in another LoH readalong. Kingfisher's The Twisted Ones looks excellent!
My first LOHF book of the year was "A Cult Called Freedom House". While my first LOHF review of the year was "The Twisted Ones". =)
Officially, ANNA DRESSED IN BLOOD was my first (started and completed) #ladiesfirst20 read. An arc of BOTTLED, was next, and I just finished THE TWISTED ONES, by T. Kingfisher--still need to write reviews for the last two. I'm making an effort this year to try and "even things out", reading @50% female authors, in general. :D This has really opened my eyes to how few women authors I had on my personal shelves three years ago, compared to how many I've been discovering lately.
