Stefanie (trippie) | 506 comments 4. Eve in Exile - Rebekah Merkle

So. I had no idea what this book was when I started reading it. for personal reasons, I ordered a pile of books on femininity/ womanhood, and this was one of them. I was partway in before I realized that it was a treatise by a much more conservative Christian than I, but I trucked through the book anyway. I rate it one massive eye roll.

Stefanie (trippie) | 506 comments I'm once again reading chunks of the Bible. I participated in The Good Book Club, which read the book of John from Epiphany until today. I'm going to do like I did in the past, which is to lump my Bible reading into one entry for the list. What I'm doing differently this year is that I'll assign it a number now, and when I read other books of the Bible, I'll just label them with the same number. I think I tacked it all on the end last time.

ANYWAY.

6. The Bible
The book of John

Stefanie (trippie) | 506 comments 6 (continued): The Gospel of Mark

my church has a beautiful tradition of reading Mark in one fell swoop on Monday of Holy Week. We did it via Zoom tonight. <3

I'm also most of the way through Matthew on my own, so let's just log that now. This is the year I read all 4 canonicals.

Stefanie (trippie) | 506 comments 11. James and the Giant Peach - Roald Dahl

Owen's teacher read this to them over zoom, and I listened in. I figure that is like an audio book, haha

First of all, it's EXACTLY like an audiobook! lol

Second, that's so sweet that teachers and organizations (libraries, science centers, etc.) are doing Zoom storytimes. I'm sure the school situation isn't easy for the teachers/students/siblings/parents, but as an outsider who just hears about bits and pieces of what's going on, I love the idea of Zoom storytimes. And just the idea of little ones still being in preschool/kindergarten/first grade via video schooling!

Stefanie (trippie) | 506 comments His teacher is so amazing. It makes my heart want to explode. They meet from 10:30-11 every day. They do scavenger hunts some days, regular show and tell on others. They did science on Monday - a game of "sink or float?" where the kids had to predict... and then the last 10-15 minutes is listening to the book. They've moved on to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory now.

I've been running a toddler/ preschool story time on Mondays for a local motherhood center, also via zoom. That's been fun, too. I've been able to break out my favorite picture books.
