How is everyone doing so far this year? Any good books? Bad ones? Done anything exciting? Enjoying or hating the challenges?
We love to hear from you and talk. :)

Kai Charles(Fiction State Of Mind) (fictionstateofmind) I have been reading a lot and actually participating in all the challenges. I'm taking a break from the library until I finish all my physical and e-books

Personally I am just getting back into routine after the holidays and flu. I got my hair cut last week and planning to dye it purple sometime in the next few weeks. I've done blue (back in high school) and burgundy before and thats about it. Now that work has lifted the rule of natural hair colors only I get to have some fun.

Books have been decent but having to do a lot of re-reads to get back into some series, so sadly nothing exciting. Getting back into my decluttering and major home organization that I started last year. I keep watching youtube videos for motivation but then get sucked into watching those instead of actually doing anything lol.

In many ways I should do that. I have SOOO many books. But I am trying to go for a 2 to 1 ratio at the least. Where I read 2 books I own before the library or buying a new book. So far it is good but i haven't included KU books either way and I likely will slip up a bit if my local used bookstore gets a rare manga haul or something.

I love that you are participating in all the challenges. :)

Sans | 722 comments I've been restless with book lately. The manga I've been logging are fast reads so I don't get frustrated with them. When I do pick up Revan, I'm hooked and stick with it but when I put it down at the end of lunch breaks, I just don't pick it back up.

I love getting into manga for some quick reads. I love being able to say I read a book or 2 in a day and not put the whole day aside for reading.

You and Fiction are giving me the Star Wars itch lol. I need to get back into the EU (now Legends...) books timeline. Since a lot of the BBY novels work for both and I want to go chronologically I guess that works. Then after I finished those (still said Christie Golden won't ever get to finish her ideas), get into the Disney approved "official" books.

Weird how some books can get you hooked while reading but once it is done that changes. As long as you are still enjoying it though, that is what matters.

Sans | 722 comments I'm trying to read most of the Legends books in chorno order as well (except for the Zahn books, sometimes I just need to read an author I know I trust). It's been very slow going for me but I'm having fun!

I kind of don't fully trust the new Disney canon books (again, with Zahn as the exception) and I'm not sure if it's because the Rogue One books I read were bad or just because it's the media overlords Disney.

Zahn gets a pass. :)

But I am going to miss Mara Jade and the Solo kids (well kid...) I mean my online handle I often use involves Jaina (a mix of Jaina Solo and Jaina Proudmoore from Warcraft) so to have her story just STOP is so frustrating.

No great books so far. No bad ones either. Mostly because I've been bogged down with my cold thing whatever.

I'm still hoping to meet my goal. I remember being so happy I was ahead for all of 2-3 days. lol.

That's great!

I'm the opposite. I literally have no physicals with me right now so I'm focusing on my e-books and relying heavily on the library.

Ooooh that sounds fun! I've never gone wild with a hair color. I've gone black (I'm a natural brunette) a kind of auburn but darker? So it's still reddish but mostly brown. What color is that? I think that's it? I've wanted to do colors like blue or purple or green but never did it. :/

You sound just like me! lol. I think every single book I have read this year was a re-read. 🤦‍♀️

Also youtube has not been my friend and now I have discovered bitlife. My reading will be going down the tube. 🙄

Manga are great for the reading goal and great for when you are frustrated with reading novels. I need to start reading some again. Get me back on track. :)

I wouldn't travel overseas with physical books either. Maybe a couple but yeah, lots of ebooks, audiobooks and library use. :)

I tried bitlife but it got old fast for me. But I know lots of people are loving it.

I used to take a literal suitcase with me but found that it was just not worth it. It helps that I like my kobo and kindle now and that I can use the library app. :)

Plus ARCS if I can ever get my approval rating up.

Probably will for me too but so far it's the only game I can play without WIFI so that's a big bonus for me.

Sans | 722 comments I had a bright purple mowhawk a couple years ago. It would fade to a gorgeous silver lavender between color deposits. I loved it. Then I left my job in San Francisco and figured I should tone down the look for biotech corporate life.

How fun! Its hard as you make your way up in the work life because its a balance of keeping it toned down enough to be taken serious yet its good to also show some individual personality but not often easy.

Balance would definitely be key if you are in a more rigid corporate environment. :)

It's been a strange month with lots of unexpected occurrences but mostly decent. Less the flu I started with. *Hiss* to that.

What was the best book everyone read this month?
Mine was being able to Finish A Crystal of Time (The School for Good and Evil The Camelot Years, #2) by Soman Chainani . I have enjoyed this series so much more than I expected and the audiobook narrator is AMAZING! But now I have to wait until summer for the next book.

message 27: by Sans (new)

Sans | 722 comments My favourite read this month is Far Sector (2019-) #2 by N.K. Jemisin , if I can count floppies. A lot of authors have a difficult time making the jump from prose to sequential art, but Jemisin is doing some amazing work in this maxi series!

For full books, I'd have to say A Curse So Dark and Lonely (Cursebreakers, #1) by Brigid Kemmerer . I may have given it just 3 stars, but I'm still thinking about it and eager to read the next book, so that's saying something!

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 988 comments My favorite read is a toss-up between Circe by Madeline Miller and The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller

I enjoyed this series so much as well. We had the fifth book preordered as soon as I finished and I’m disappointed I have to wait 4 more months till the sixth comes out. Favorite book was probably Shadow and Bone or the Fault in our Stars.

I know! But for some weird reason, I still want Alina to end up with Darkling. No clue why.
