What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

Hi, all. I'm looking for a book that is about a judge that is having a personal issue/crisis at home, but she is also having to preside over an important children's case that will have far-reaching effects. I know the title has "Children" in it - and I thought it was "The Children's Project" - but that doesn't seen to work. I think the author's first name is "Ewan," but that could be his last.
