Are there any Westerns on the list? I am looking for a Western for a reading challenge I am doing and might as well do one that is on the 1001 list - if there is one....

The two that come to mind are
Blood Meridian, or the Evening Redness in the West
and
All the Pretty Horses
I thought of The Last of the Mohicans but it's a stretch....

A couple of ideas, but I think they are also a stretch: Mason & Dixon by Thomas Pynchon. Knowing Pynchon, though, this will not be conventional
Cloudsplitter by Russell Banks. About John Brown the abolitionist.
I thought The True History of the Kelley Gang was on the list, but I guess I'm mistaken--that's an Australian western.
Not much to choose from, it doesn't look like. There should by at least one conventional western on the list somewhere--Blood Meridian is an extremely brutal book. I think it's a great book, but it's not something you sit down to for a relaxing afternoon. If I had any say in the matter, True Grit would be on the list. I thought it was vastly entertaining, and literary as well.
