Jordan entered and looked at the various goods with a smile, he didn't often spurge on money but he decided to do so today
Reese didn't have much of a sweet tooth and they almost never had the money to spend on them. However, it'd been awhile since they'd stopped for food, and the smell of the fresh bread was almost irresistible after having sustained on stale rations for the past week or so.
Jordan turned as someone entered the shop and smiled at, what he thought was a her, and looked at her "So what brings you here?" He asked, she did look rather hungry
Reese crossed their arms defensively over their chest; their automatic reaction to interacting with strangers. They shrugged. "Got tired of eating the same hard food everyday. I figured slightly overpriced bread was better than nothing. Um...you?"
Jordan smiled at that "Same, what's wrong if I may ask?" He felt that it was being very defensive for some reason, he would like to help
"Nothing's wrong. I'm fine," Reese answered. They weren't very good around people and tended to act a bit defensive when they felt they were being confronted. Reese turned back to the counter where they'd requested their food. They grabbed the package off of the counter and paid, keeping their arms crossed for as much of the interaction as possible.
((May I ask why did you make her use they and all that? sorry it is a little annoying))
Jordan looked at it and sighed "Oh well, thought that maybe I could help with your magic" He said, it was easy to tell that it has not mastered magic yet

(((view spoiler)))
Reese stiffened suddenly. "How did you know about that?" they snapped, whirring around to face the older man. They didn't recognize this man from anywhere, so it wasn't like he could've seen them practice.

((Okay, sorry))
Jordan smiled "Your memories tell the story, I know your life story, you not believing your sister is dead and all" he said

Reese stepped away from the counter and put their food in the bag around their shoulders. "Is she? Dead, I mean. Do you know if she's dead?" They'd been in various places around the kingdom searching for Shybeel, and they were desperate for even the slightest bit of information - even if that information was that their search was pointless.
Jordan shrugged at that "Wish I could say I knew, I don't all I know are you memories" He explained
Reese bit their lip. They were used to being disappointed, but to have gotten their hopes up that high only to be let down still stung. Of course, Reese blamed themself for getting their hopes up in the first place, but that was beside the point. "It's not your fault," they said once they'd reined in their feelings. "What did you mean about helping with my magic, though?" Reese figured that if they couldn't use this man to find their sister, he'd at least be useful for learning to control their power.
Jordan smiled "Well you can't seem to control your powers well, while my magic is not the same as yours it is similar so I could try and teach you" he explained
"What's the catch?" Reese inquired, raising an eyebrow. Most of the time an opportunity like this came along it came with a hefty price, which Reese definitely wouldn't be able to pay with their current situation.
"Not many people feel the same way," said Reese. They were slightly suspicious of the man's intentions, but decided they had nothing to lose. Reese held out their hand for a shake. "I'm Reese," they added, more out of courtesy than the belief the man wouldn't know their name.
"Jordan, so we will be traveling together for a while Reese, I will try and help you find your sister" He said shaking its hand
Reese released Jordan's hand and went back to crossing their arms. "Okay," they reluctantly agreed. "I'm finished here, if you're ready to leave as well."
((village streets sound good? sorry it took me so long. as you've probably guessed, i fell asleep.))
