I'm reading a ton... and I did notice I'm leaning towards historical fiction (and historical romance in particular) more than usual this month -- thanks to the dumpster fire the world is at the moment.

I'm curious to know if anyone else is leaning towards certain genres, too.

Since the crisis started I'm looking for lighter reading mainly, and avoiding anything grimdark, but in April I decided to participate in the magical readathon so I'm following the TBR I chose for it. It is kind of good to have a decided TBR since this month I don't feel like putting too much thought in what I want to read.

Maybe because I can be an introvert at times, I have enjoyed this enforced quarantine.
I decided to tackle a book that I have tried to read at least 3 times: Les Miserables. I find myself reading it very slowly, so I have been interspersing it with lighter, quicker reads. Cozy mysteries and Fantasies have always been my go to books when I am looking for comfort reads, and that is what I have been reading since March 12th (when our quarantine started).

I like to call myself an introverted extrovert. I can spend a lot of time on my own, but not all the time. Even though I have a roommate and dogs to keep me company, the quarentine has been getting harder and harder for me for the past couple of days or so. I miss people... a lot! I guess that's why I'm reading so much.
(The quarentine started here about five weeks ago.)

I can't do grimdark! I've been actively avoiding Jay Kristoff's solo work because everyone calls it grimdark (even though I loved Illuminae and Gemina).

Personally I've been almost exclusively re-reading books since lock down here. Books I know I loved and I can easily pick them up and put them down. Seems to have been working so far, no slump. -touch wood-

Leticia, I can't handle grim dark right now either.

I've noticed that I haven't been reading a lot of romance/sweet type of books during this time. My plan this year was to really get through a lot of Debbie Macomber and Nora Roberts. Lately I just haven't been wanting to pick up those type of books.

I agree, I am also an introverted extrovert. I very much enjoy being alone and doing this by myself but when I'm around people I am often the leader and enjoy the company of my friends and family.

Now that I think about it, I have found myself gravitating towards cozy mysteries.

Cozy mysteries are always fun to read... but I often find that they have to have a fantasy element to keep me reading a series.

It's interesting to see what people are reaching for in this time of crisis. It looks like each of us has their own happy place, genre wise. I had no idea mine would be historical fiction, for instance.

You're absolutely right! I didn't think cozy mysteries would be my go to. But that's the best thing about books--we can escape our own world for awhile.

I think I was an extroverted in my teens, but lately I'll just be openly talkative with people that I know will not use that against me. It's weird to say this, but the social distancing wasn't a big deal for me apart from not being able to go to the town center every weekend as I usually like to do and yet not knowing if I'll be able to travel in summer.
I have for ages in my shelf and don't feel like reading it. Well, eventually.
