Spin the Dawn by Elizabeth Lim won the poll to choose a book for the January group read (which never took place), we could make a case that it should automatically be our selection for a group read in March, if we do one. What do you all think about that? (I know at least one person in this group is reading it now; but anyone who's finished reading it before we start an official read is still welcome to comment on it in the discussion!)

Well, nobody has objected to finally giving Spin the Dawn its due as a previous poll winner. So unless someone does object, I'd say let's plan to make that book our group read for March. I'll be pretty much offline myself from March 1-19, but I'll get the thread set up before then, and make the appropriate adjustments to the group bookshelf.

Group reads, in groups that do them, are usually timed to coincide with calendar months (though they don't have to be done every month). They're typically chosen by a poll of the members, set up on the group's Polls page, usually in the preceding month. In some groups --though none that I'm in-- the moderator(s) pick the books, but I personally don't recommend that idea.
Do we want to do a group read in March? (If we do, I don't plan to join in; my wife and I are expecting family in from Australia, who'll be here from March 1-19, and I'll be mostly offline then. But I can get a discussion thread set up before March 1, and take care of the poll before that.) If so, does anyone have a suggestion for what to read? Beyond that, do we want to do one every month? (Several groups I'm in prefer to do an annual read; but I believe monthly reads are more common.) What do you all think?
