Mort is actually a good place to start because it's the first one that really has the style that Pratchett uses for most of Discworld.
I've just finished, it was my first Pratchett too. I've always been a bit intimidated by the Discworld but it really did seem to be a solid introduction to the universe. I thought it was good, not great overall. That said, I'll definitely be picking up another Discworld novel in the future (particularly as I'm no longer quite so scared!) Not sure I would have dived in without the motivation from this challenge to do so, so thank you!
Mort is a great place to start and very funny! I will never get the image of Death in a pink apron petting a kitten and holding a greasy spatula as a short order cook at a diner out of my head.
