Hi guys and gals! As I stated in the group intro, I successfully climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro (60 books) in 2014, but I will be aiming slightly lower this year since I will be a full-time student come January 12th. I am sad to (probably) be reading less; however, I am confident that the sacrifice is more than worth it, especially in the long run. I'm sure I will be reading plenty for university in any case. Feel free to leave me comments here. I appreciate the interaction and support. =)

Hey, Lisa! What will you study? When I became a student, I did read almost nothing for a year. I'm still shocked and now read more than ever, despite uni. I wish you good luck with your climb!

What a cool name! =) The title of my program at my university is English Education, which is basically a fancy way of saying that I'm getting a degree to teach English (literature/grammar) at the high school level. I imagine that both the program and the career it will eventually lead to are both very challenging. However, after taking a few wrong turns in my education, I'm pretty much convinced that my destiny and passion lies with literature, and particularly teaching.
I'm glad to hear that you read more than ever. That's encouraging. Ha. What are you studying?
Thanks for the well wishes, and I wish you luck on your climb as well. =)
Cool, I have a bad temper so I admire all (good) teachers! Iselin isn't my real name; I "borrowed" it from a book ;)
I'm currently writing my master's thesis in German Literature, and I also studied Computational Linguistics, which is just as nerdy as it sounds :) I'll miss uni, but it's time to get on with my life... I wish I could study forever.

I know what you mean, I'm excited to be going back to school, but ready to be finished with it all at the same time. Luckily, I won't really ever be leaving school-given my chosen profession. =)
Hi Lisa! If it's any consolation, I managed to read more (for fun) when I returned to school to complete my master's degree. Thinking back on it I wonder how I managed it - in addition to classes I was also working 30 hrs a week, but I still read 100+ books. Maybe that explains why I was always so tired ;) You never know, you might have the best reading year ever! Best of luck with school and your reading challenge.

Good luck to you with your challenge as well! =)

Practical Magic by Alice HoffmanPurchased Hardcover edition in June 2014
I first saw the movie years ago as a child and many times since then. In fact, I own a copy of Practical Magic on DVD. The book and the movie are quite different from each other. As many others have said regarding Practical Magic, the movie did it better. The book is okay, but the movie is more cohesive and all the pieces fit together a lot more nicely. There is also more of a plot with the movie. If you're interested, watch the movie and skip the book. Or if you're like me and you have the read the book (even if it's not as good as the movie) go ahead, but realize that the movie is better.
