This is a very late response, but I did read your comment when you posted it. I'm mulling over a few different ideas for our April book so I'm flipping around through our past discussions. Due to COVID-19 panic, everything is shut down here, but my campus library and the public library are still open though I believe they have reduced hours and its a grab and go no loitering type of deal.
I have a dark fascination with murderers; mostly, I'm interested in their upbringings and what's going on in their brains. In many cases, serial killers can be linked to crappy parenting and/or brain injuries. I think that's really interesting that your mom's brother has firsthand experience with Dahmer and his personality during adolescence. I always assumed that Dahmer was quiet but not shy. Shyness implies a certain social phobia I guess you could say. It would make sense that a serial killer wouldn't be adept at handling social situations and yet psychopaths are known for being charismatic. John Wayne Gacy and Ted Bundy were notorious for being charismatic. I think that's why Dahmer always interested me; he seems to function on his own different level. Anyways...I'm ranting. Thanks for sharing your story with me!
