I normally prefer fiction books but as I'm a med student and I studied about HeLa cells I thought it would be interesting to read about the woman behind this cells.
It's only recently that I've gained a love for nonfiction. And my background is in science so I'm very intrigued by this book.
I learnt about this book and topic through my diploma in health sciences, so like Cristina I would be interested to see what actually happened.
I passed this book several times while it was displayed in Barnes & Nobles last year. I was intrigued, but didn't want to buy it at the time. I found the book on the Libby library app last month and checked it out while I had the chance. I'm finished, so I won't say anything else other than it's a great pick!!
I've seen this title pop up quite a bit among my GR friends, so I'm curious. Science books aren't normally the genre of book that I would read, so this would be a stretch for me, but I'm intrigued. I plan to start this in another 2 weeks or so.
I starting this today. Listening to the audiobook. This book was not on my purview so am thankful for the group selection because it sounds right up my alley.
I'm about 60 pages in. As a teacher on spring break, I'm hoping to use this time as an opportunity to read something heavier. So far, the writing is engaging, but I find myself periodically needing to set the book down for being overwhelming.
I have an e- book version, because my requested hardback copy has been locked up by my library since it closed last week. Our current corona craziness is pretty distracting, so I have yet to start. I'm more in the mood to read mysteries right now instead of non fiction. I'll try reading it perhaps tomorrow.
I'm new to this group and hoping to connect with other book lovers. I read this book some time ago and enjoyed it very much. I do not have a scientific background but was still able to appreciate the significance Henrietta Lacks made possible for us all.
