Final thoughts

Sherri (Harte Reads) | 10 comments This book didn't work for me. I really like the feminist themes; women are not treated well in Albania - for sure. I also liked the social and political aspects in that it really gives a sense of what the country is like. But I felt once removed from the characters. My perception could be due to all that is going on in the world right now and I need to pick up a lighter read. :)

Penelope | 17 comments This was a marvellous, if not a little confusing, read. It felt more like a collection of short stories but when I realised that the main character was sometimes given different names it was a lot better.....I think! Definitely a 4star read and my interest about this author and Albania is to be further investigated.

I really liked how it discussed the situation of women in communist Albania but I do feel it was a bit disjointed. It was not a new favourite book but an author to keep in mind for sure.
