What might the swing set represent in the novel?

Well I think the swing set is a memory of Hazels of a time before she had cancer. When she was a normal girl and her parents didn't have to worry with all the painful consequences of having a terminally ill daughter. Also its brings hazel tears because its her only memory when she did not have to worry about running out of breath its a painful memory for Hazel.
