Was the research process different for this science fiction novel compared to your other books like Tiger's Curse and Reawakened?
I noticed the emphasis on perfection in the synopsis. Does that revolve around the main theme or were you trying to portray a a basic characteristic of humans trying to be perfect?
Does the phrase on the cover “deadly toxins can be hidden inside the most beautiful flower” also relate to characters? Were you at all inspired by James Cameron’s Avatar? I noticed that a lot of sci-fi books don’t focus on nature and Avatar is one of the few I know of that do. What made you decide to feature nature so prominately?
Why did you choose to incorporate Greek mythology? And how did you decide who Astra ended up with. Was it something you had planned from the start, or did it naturally happen whilst writing the story?
And a spoiler question.
What do you think would have happened if Nash was the one that fully transformed? Do you think he would have brought destruction to all of the planets due to his animosity towards humans?
Was Nash always jealous of Astra?
And was it the proximity to the planet/trees that changed Nash for the worse, or did it just bring out the hate he already had inside of himself?
Were there any Science Fiction movies, TV shows, or books that inspired some of the world-building in Terraformer?
I received an ebook ARC of Terraformer and I'm almost at the halfway point. I've noticed that your writing style seems different in this story as apposed to your previous books. Would you say that's intentional as it is your first scifi novel, or just you naturally evolving as an author?
I hope you and your family are doing well!
Plants are an important part of this book. Do you have a favorite plant or flower? What was your favorite species to research in this book? Are there any other interesting facts or stories you researched that didn't make its way into Terraformer?
