Chip Rodgers | 4 comments Hi guys,

Now that Audible and Goodreads are owned by Amazon, are you planning to get them more integrated together? For example:
- Let Audible update your "reading" and progress on Goodreads
- Let Goodreads "to read" connect with your Audible and Amazon wishlists
- Some kind of packaged pricing for buying the physical book on Amazon and the audio book on Audible.
- Likewise, if we've already bought an Audible book, seems we should be able to get the physical book for nearly free. (We already "own" the copyright to the content, now we'd just be buying the paper and binding.)
- Have Audible show possible books based on your Goodreads library, likes, friends likes, etc.

Are there any plans for some things like this? Seems like a wasted opportunity for you guys.

Dee (austhokie) | 1963 comments - there is already a kind of package pricing between Amazon/Audible - you get discounts on books that are whispersync'd - normally for several dollars less (people get quite a few in the $1-3 range)

- you don't own the copyright of a book - the author does - owning the copyright would mean that you could take the book, make copies etc - not the same thing

Hey Chip,

All very good suggestions. We have already added shop Audible options to Goodreads when browsing titles and hope to become more integrated with Goodreads in the future.

As Dee mentioned, we do offer a discounted price on the Audible audiobook when you have the Kindle ebook in your library.

Check out which of your Kindle ebooks are eligible for a discounted audiobook here: www.amazon.com/matchmaker

Please feel free to send us your suggestions to greatideas@audible.com for consideration. Thanks!

If this was to happen, I would hope that it would be an optional thing. I want complete control over my shelves because I may use them differently that what Audible or Amazon, or Goodreads for that matter, think.

I would not want my Audible wishlist automatically populating my Goodreads to-read shelf, because my to-read shelf is for books I own and will read. It's not my wishlist.

Agree Janice. It would have to be an option. But still seems like a great idea and there could be other integrations it seems they are missing or not thinking about adding.

I like that. I may have to overhaul my whole to-read shelf and add a wishlist shelf!

MissSusie | 2431 comments They are slowing rolling out where you will be able to listen to a clip of the audio right on the bookpage without clicking over to audible, I am looking forward to that feature!

message 11: by Robin P (new)

Robin P | 1766 comments It's fine as an option but personally I don't want them all integrated. Amazon is very confused about me because both my husband and I buy things and we buy gifts for other people. I know I can go through and mark things as gifts but I don't want to bother, so they recommend weird stuff.

My To Read list includes books I already own so I don't want those to be put on a wish list or anything like that.

Travis (travistousant) | 543 comments Seriously if the audible library would seperate my read and unread books so much time could be saved scrolling through them all. Then if there was a way for that to be more permanently saved. I got a new phone so none of the books were marked finished.

✨Susan✨ (suswelch) | 223 comments Argh, I can relate some of my reads are way back there and I try to read oldest first so scrolling is a pain.

Heidi | 1546 comments I would just like the ability for my GR reviews to be directly posted to my Amazon and or Audible accounts. I do not like post 3 separate reviews!

I'm with you; I want better search functionalty on the Library. I keep track of heard/not heard here at GR. And at Audible, if I've read the book, there are rating stars.

Same here. Also, Amazon doesn't seem to understand that it should not recommend the hardback version of a book I have already purchased on Kindle. Or other editions of classics. I only need to read The Count of Monte Cristo once, Amazon! I don't need to buy all 184 editions from you! So I guess what I'm saying is, it would be nice if Audible didn't recommend books I had already purchased on Amazon. I use WS sometimes, but I already know about that book and don't need it recommended to me.

I am with you Robin, it would be weird to have my husband's choice of books linked to my goodreads account. Amazon already has enough of my information, I don't think it needs to intrude anymore than it already does.

Erm, in a word, no thanks.

I don't want Audible or Amazon to control or monitor my reading (or any more than they already do) and make adjustments to my Goodreads account. What if "they" don't like my comments or my rating? As long as I comply with GR standards, I expect Amazon/Audible to stay out of my account.

Right now, if I'm at a book's page here at GR and click on one of the icons just below the publication data, I can be right there at Amazon; and I have to be very careful NOT to click anything or I may have bought a book I just wanted pricing info on.

And about recommendations - well, neither Amazon nor Audible have managed really good recommendations so far. They have recommended (as someone else said), other editions of the same book that I already own; sometimes they suggest books I've owned for a couple of years, so they aren't checking older purchases that are in my Kindle/Audible libraries; or they put together some really strange things. For example, I was getting recommendations for the Hebrew versions of Audible books, even though I've never bought anything in Hebrew or any language other than English.

If there was a stand-alone program that gave me access to the database that GR has, I'd keep all my library info on my PC, not out here in cyberspace.

message 21: by Margaret (new)

Margaret | 316 comments Yup. My library info (audio or print) ratings (narrators rated also) and comments are on a document in Word on my own computer. I even record books I only sample so I don't borrow or buy them again.
Come to think, I do rate audiobooks purchased on the Audible list to remind me of which have been read and which are still patiently (?) waiting on the Ipod.

skinmaan | 17 comments Here's one way Amazon and Audible could be more closely merged that no one would be bothered by: how about letting Amazon gift cards be used on Audible? That would sure have the potential to increase my Audible shopping.

Yes! I use an Amazon card for my small ebook purchases, to help with budgeting. An Amazon/Audible card, or just an Audible card, would be great.

Plus, people could give Audible cards as gifts to others. Now it's only possible to give membership months, at the highest per-credit cost, and that's more than I can justify. I have lots of online friends who are frequent Audible customers, and I'd love to be able to give them $25 or $50 gift cards for Audible cash purchases.

Great Idea, skinmaan!!

Hi Frederic. At this time, we do not have a way to export reviews between Audible and Goodreads. We apologize for this. We will be sure to forward this feature request to our team. You can view the reviews you write by clicking on the "Listener Page" button towards the top of the Audible home page. From here you would then be able to copy and paste the review from Audible to Goodreads.

We apologize again for the inconvenience. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us. Thanks!

Bud (hockeyguy) | 6 comments What I would like to see on audible is a favorite authors list. Any book that comes out from one of the 35 authors I follow I would get a notice.

I get notices from Amazon for written books but the audio books counterpart always come out later than the book release.

Currently I check every Tuesday for new and preorder books looking for my authors I just wish the computer did it for me.
