I didn't understand why Jacob was brought into Edwards book. Help..??

This book is by far my favorite in the series. I loved getting to see Edward as more than just a vampire, you get to see him as human. You finally get to see the Edward Bella fell in love with. It also bringing more meaning to things that happen later in the series and you especially get to see the meaning behind his wedding speech in Breaking Dawn. If you haven't read it it's a wonderful read.
