Reading the Chunksters discussion

Interesting development with Aomame requesting a pregnancy test.

Tengo’s experience with the young nurse at her apartment was strange, but it seems as though she was a portal for young Aomame to contact Tengo. Still won if they will actually end up meeting in reality, especially now with the pregnancy. And of course we can all easily figure out how that happened. Well, I guess not technically “how”, but we know who the father is.

I’m starting to find the Ushikawa chapters a little boring since as the reader we already know the information he is finding out for himself for the most part.

I am starting to feel like this book is longer than it needs to be. I agree with the Ushikawa chapters being a little tedious. He makes big leaps in deduction due to his 'nose' or feeling. Maybe he is there to fill in the gaps for how Sakigaki are going to put everything together?? I feel like 'OK lets just get on with it now'. It will be interesting to see who the NHK collector turns out to be. BUt again I feel like, OK he's been there twice now and once t o Tengo's - move it on now.

That’s how I felt about the book at this point, Bron. That it was longer than it needed to be. Luckily it picks up later and I ended up really enjoying the latter chapters.

Hi Linda, I'm glad to hear it picks up again. I was excited by this book to start with but it has had a bit of a dip now for a while so looking forward to it finishing stronger.

It was in the next set of threads that I mentioned that I wished something would happen soon. So hang in there for at least another few chapters! 🙂

If you haven't figured this one out yet, I'll help you along. Tengo's left testicle hangs lower than his right one. (Murikami informs us of this about halfway through.) So there you go: sometimes, 2 things that are normally thought of as the same really aren't.
