I think this was within the last 5 years but maybe a bit more. I read Asimov's so it could have been there, but I also read lots of anthologies. It's told by the mom of the family. The disease is more contagious and generally fatal. At first they can get groceries delivered, then there are shortages. After a while, she and the kids are making goodies with whatever ingredients she has left, as she tries to make the quarantine more bearable. They take in a few extra kids who come by different circumstances. Her sister, who they are in touch with by phone (or internet?) has the disease and eventually dies. I don't think it ends well.

Do you know where the story was set? Which country or city? Rural or urban? Can you remember anything about the characters? Is there a father in the family? How many kids?
Do they go anywhere or is the whole story set in their house?
Suburban, somewhere in the USA, I think a father, maybe a couple of kids and then they take in 2 or 3 more.
SOLVED Found it! Ran across this link, in case anyone is interested: https://www.tor.com/2020/04/14/didnt-... The story is "So Much Cooking" by Naomi Kritzer, and the main character is a food blogger.
Glad you found it! The story is in The Best Science Fiction of the Year: Volume One, Clarkesworld Year Ten: Volume One, and Cat Pictures Please and Other Stories.
Rachel, did you read "So Much Cooking" by Naomi Kritzer in one of the books suggested by Rosa:
- The Best Science Fiction of the Year: Volume One edited by Neil Clarke?
- Cat Pictures Please and Other Stories by Naomi Kritzer?
- The Best Science Fiction of the Year: Volume One edited by Neil Clarke?
- Cat Pictures Please and Other Stories by Naomi Kritzer?
Yes, I probably read it in the Clarke anthology, which I reviewed last October. If I didn't keep track of what I read on Goodreads, I'd forget a lot! (My library doesn't have the second one, but it's on my to-read list.) Thank you, Bargel, Rosa, and Kris!
