I am reading 'Unbearable Lightness of Being' by Milan Kundera for this category. I have bought this book in 1986!!!
Our kids read this in high school 10 years ago and it's been on my "to read" every since. They were moved by this book and now I understand why. It broke my heart but is such an important book to read. I wonder if anyone has read the sequel about the men who survived the war?
I just finished Nefertiti by Michelle Moran. I have had several of her books sitting on my kindle for a while now unread. I finally gave in and read this one and it was really worth it!
I have read John O'Hara before, however I have never taken time to read his book Butterfield Eight. It has been on my shelf for a long time. I know a movie was made with Elizabeth Taylor, which I have never watched. After I finish the book, the movie may be an added bonus.
I have changed my mind about O'Hara. I began reading Butterfield Eight and could not bring myself to finish it. The book is set during the Great Depression, Prohibition and is so morally bankrupt that I found the book was just bringing me down. I kept expecting a turn around, however none came. I will not be watching the movie nor will I be recommending this book.
