Elizabeth | 2 comments Our kids read this in high school 10 years ago and it's been on my "to read" every since. They were moved by this book and now I understand why. It broke my heart but is such an important book to read. I wonder if anyone has read the sequel about the men who survived the war?

This is one of my favorites. I hope you love it!

Kathy I just finished Nefertiti by Michelle Moran. I have had several of her books sitting on my kindle for a while now unread. I finally gave in and read this one and it was really worth it!

Stephanie Mullins | 16 comments I have read John O'Hara before, however I have never taken time to read his book Butterfield Eight. It has been on my shelf for a long time. I know a movie was made with Elizabeth Taylor, which I have never watched. After I finish the book, the movie may be an added bonus.

Stephanie Mullins | 16 comments I have changed my mind about O'Hara. I began reading Butterfield Eight and could not bring myself to finish it. The book is set during the Great Depression, Prohibition and is so morally bankrupt that I found the book was just bringing me down. I kept expecting a turn around, however none came. I will not be watching the movie nor will I be recommending this book.
