Daria wandered around the Swan Lake, perplexed. She was simply exploring, yet another time. What would she find today?
((Ella)) Leise came towards the Swan Lake. She couldn't believe she was here! Leise was glad her step-father trusted her to come all the way to the Northern Kingdom to do his errand. He wouldn't mind if she stopped for a minute at this beautiful lake... would he? Oh well. Leise noticed a girl and nodded hello with a smile.
Daria didn't smile back. She just stared at the girl, trying to see if she could identify Leise, but no recognition came. "What are you doing her?" she asked in a serious tone.
Leise was a little taken aback by the girl. "Um, I'm doing an errand for my guardian," She said. She gave the girl a confused glance. What was wrong with being here? The girl was here too. Leise gave the girl a tentative glance and smile.
Daria nodded. "I just don't usually see girls like you alone here," she shrugged. She sat on the ground, with her arms around her knees, staring across the lake.
Leise looked off. "Oh..." She said. "Well, what are you doing here?" Leise asked cautiously. She hoped the girl didn't suddenly snap at her or anything....
Leise looked at the girl. "Oh," She clearly said. Leise shuffled her feet a little as she looked right at the girl. "And why would you need to control yourself?" Leise asked, a hint of snark coming through. Mentally she cursed herself. She had just met this girl! Why was she being snarky?
Daria looked at her, taken aback. "Oh, well, let's just say my mom's dead and my dad's in prison, so I start to think a lot and need to control my thoughts," she said sarcastically. She knew that an argument would come after she finished letting the words slip out of her mouth.
Leise looked at the girl, shocked. She had no idea. "Sorry," She muttered quietly. She stepped a few feet over and sat down against a tree. She put her head in her hands. Why did she have to be so mean and insult this girl. Obviously she had made her very angry.
Daria stared up at the sky. She realized that she should be more chill with things sometimes. "Whatever," she said. It took some courage. "It's fine."
Leise shrugged from beneath her hands. "Okay," She said reluctantly. She propped her head up on her knees and gazed at the lake. She snuck a little glance at the girl. She realized something. "Well, what's your name?" She asked the girl, as she realized she didn't know.
"Daria Wisher," she replied. "And you?" She began to wonder if the girl would become a friend, through their rough start.
"Leise Gray," She said. "You from around here?" She inquired Daria. She wondered if Daria was from her kingdom. Leise wondered if they could be friends. Maybe long-distance friends, if she didn't live in the same kingdom. Leise assumed Daria lived in a different kingdom than her.
Leise looked at her. Just as she had thought. Different kingdom. "Nice," She said with a little nod.
"Oh," Daria said. "I feel like it's so much more sophisticated than the Northern Kingdom. Do you like it there?"
"I guess. I've lived there during some of the happiest times of my life, and one of the worst. It's definitely better than where I first lived," Leise said. She abruptly stopped talking. She was getting into her past now.
"Not really. Just where you first lived," Daria shrugged. Since Leise couldn't see, Daria rolled her eyes at her bitterness.
"Corner Kingdom," Leise said clearly. She kinda felt bad for harassing the girl, but whatever. "Let's just say that although my parent problems are bad, yours are worse," Leise said. She hoped she didn't make Daria feel bad.
Daria stood up. "I'm going to go head back to my home now. At least my aunt and uncle are here for me."
