As he huddled in his first grade classroom closet with his teacher and several other children, Zach could hear the 'pop pop pop' sounds coming from the hallway and the sounds of terrified and injured children and adults. Only when he was reunited with his parents at a local church and his mother asked where Zach's 10-year-old brother Andy was did Zach realized he had not seen him. Unfortunately, Andy was one of the 19 killed during the shooting. Zach, now the only child, does not know how to react. His parents are so caught up in their grief that they don't seem to even see or hear him. Retreating to his brother's closet, Zach makes a hideaway to separate himself from his parents imploding marriage. He wants to fix everything, but he's only 6 and doesn't know how to do it.

Wow, this book gave me such a feeling that I wanted to pick up this little boy and hug him for a long time. He is precious and precocious, sad and feeling guilty for ever getting mad at his overbearing older brother. Zach does not know where to put his feelings but he tries in a very sweet way. I loved this book and highly recommend it but it is so, so sad.

Not sure I want to read this now, but glad to see a 5 stars review!
